I surprised it wasn’t renamed Fort Antonio López de Santa Anna

I’m surprised Fort Hood wasn’t renamed after Nidal Hasan of “workplace violence” fame.

When does Goerge Floyd get a base named after him? Or perhaps they will name a destroyer after Floyd.

Confusion will reign. Will still be known as Fort Hood.

A Korean and Vietnam Vet...Good...I hope he was a real warrior—by looking at all the Fruit Salad—he was quite accomplished. He did have the CIB so he is one up in my book. Wish they had something similar for us tread heads and tankers...

GMTA! I had that same thought. I just read a putrid article in which the author implied that this renaming occurred because of Fort Hood’s being “plagued” by suicides, homicides, and accidents because it was named after a “confederate” general. Lots of sick, sick people running around out there. I doubt Fort Hood has higher numbers of those incidents than any other city with a population of 37,000. Thirty seven thousand people living in towns with less dangerous occupations.

Let’s face it, this renaming is nothing but an intentional jab at the traditional military. It is nothing more than Obama’s continued purging of the military.
And they wonder why no sane American will join the military any more. Good luck with recruiting, girls.

I doubt John Bell Hood cares if a Yankee fort was named after him.
To: shadowlands1960
Seems like a well-accomplished general and worthy of having a base named after him.

There’s probably a “Fort Powell” in the works... would be surprised if there weren’t.
