The goal for Ukraine is sever the land bridge and cut off Crimea and then restart negotiations in December. The land bridge will be cut off by the Ukrainian actions in Zaporizhzhia They’re following a similar playbook in Zaporizhzhia to what they did to retake the heavily defended Snihurivka, Vysokopillia and Davydiv Brid in Kherson region last year. Once those towns fell, there was a domino effect and the Russians fled across the Dnipro.

I think Russia tried to shoot down Forte 12 today over the Black Sea. Based on the drone’s flight pattern. Transponder has been turned off now.

The Russian SU-35 can see F16s long before the F-16 can see the 35, and the Su-35 can get missile lock on the F-16 long before the F-16 with its relatively short range missiles gets a shot off.

The article linked below discusses the SU-35 capabilities and limitations. An interesting read.

https://www.businessinsider.com/ukraine-war-affecting-reputation-of-russian-su35-fighter-jet-2022-8?r=US&IR=T

FTA: The SU-35 boasts a powerful Irbis-E passive electronically scanned array (PESA) multi-mode radar with an impressive maximum range of around 250 miles and can carry up to twelve air-to-air missiles versus the F-15C's eight.

But most modern Western non-stealth fighters, including upgraded F-15s and F-16s, retain one big advantage over the Su-35—frequency-hopping actively scanned array radars (AESA) which not only boast higher fidelity but are highly resistant to jamming and in some cases, much stealthier (a capability known as Low Probability of Intercept).

Thus, while the Irbis-E is powerful and conveys a detection advantage over older fourth-generation fighters, using its full power makes a Su-35S highly visible to adversaries, while that's not so true for AESA-equipped jets.

Furthermore, Western beyond-visual-range (BVR) missiles have greater range and reliability than the 68-mile R-77-1 BVR missile used on Su-35s.

Sounds like 1000 F-16s with latest radar and missiles available, an Awacs or 2, and many more Stormshadow and Atacam missiles with the training and upkeep provided, could tu=rn the tide. Are these forthcoming?

Oh oh. The area near the territory of the military airfield in Primorsko-Akhtarsk, from where the Russians usually launch Shahed drones. Apparently something hit the site 💥

Strategically, economics is part of it. Ukraine as 30+ allies supplying military, then there is all the humanitarian aid. Russia is trading weapons at a huge discount to Iran for Shaheed drones and selling oil at a loss. It is both out supplying Ukraine, and making the burden the Russian war effort is placing on their economy unsustainable. All of this is long term over a few years, and none of it makes soundbite sized news stories.

Jason Jay Smart@officejjsmart

“THE 🇷🇺 REVOLT IS NEARING”

⚡️⚡️⚡️ Igor Girkin (Strelkov), a 🇷🇺 nationalist who played a key role in Russia’s 2014 invasion of Ukraine 🇺🇦, just wrote his 900K Telegram followers something important.

Key parts:
📌 A week since Prigozhin revolted, which shot down 6 aircraft & killed “more than 10 (no one knows for sure) 🇷🇺 soldiers - no measures have been taken to punish the rebels.”

📌 Rather, Prigozhin travels around and freely enters Russia - and everyone behaves like “this is normal.”

📌 None of the “incompetent or cowardly” government leaders, nor those who ran away when Prigozhin showed-up, have been punished. AND the “President” doesn’t even talk about it.

⚡️⚡️⚡️📌 “The result??

ANOTHER REBELLION IS NOT FAR OFF. WE ONLY NEED TO WAIT FOR ANOTHER DEFEAT AT THE FRONT AND THE REBELLION WILL BEGIN .”

⚡️⚡️⚡️📌 “It does not matter who starts the revolt - NOW NO ONE WILL RESIST AGAINST THE REBELLION. NOBODY AT ALL.

IT MAKES NO SENSE RISKING YOUR LIFE DEFENDING SUCH A USELESS AND MISERABLE GOVERNMENT.”

📌 You cannot save a country whose leaders are so “rotten that they have lost even the elementary instinct of self-preservation. They prefer to do nothing.”

When well-known, hardline 🇷🇺 nationalists, who happen to be former intelligence, openly say the situation in Russia 🇷🇺 is out-of-control:

Things are about to get VERY exciting in Moscow.

48 F-16AM/BM would be a nice start. These would equip 4 squadrons.

The missions to be flown:

High Value Asset Protection (HVAP) - Intercept and shoot down cruise missiles that are not shot down by Patriots or NASAMs using Aim-120s, Aim-9s, and 20 mike mike.

Suppression of Enemy Air Defense (SEAD) - Target mobile Surface to Air systems in the contested arena using HARMs.

Offensive Counter-Air (OCA) - Intercept and shoot down RU aircraft and helicopters in the contested arena using Aim-120s, Aim-9s, and 20 mike mike.

Battlefield Air Interdiction (BAI) - Target RU logistics areas beyond HIMARs range using JDAM-ERs, SDBs and GP bombs. This will help cover any Storm Shadow shortages.

Close Air Support (CAS) - Support friendly forces that cannot be supported by friendly artillery or armor.

Note: AWACs would not be required for any of the above missions.

Are these forthcoming?

I do not know.
