They had a slo-mo video of that system in action on the Military Channel awhile back. It is almost unbelievable how it works.

How dare you bring logic, reason, and facts into a Ukraine thread!

Say - when is the International Criminal Court going to issue arrest warrants for The PedoTater, "Cookies" Nuland, Jake the Snake, "Short Pants" Blinken and the rest of the Biden Family Syndicate?

Hmmmmmmmmmm?

The caption to the first graphic in the article, "Cluster minition:"

"U.S. Honest John missile warhead cutaway around 1960, showing M134 bomblets filled with Sarin."

Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cluster_munition

Yup. Sarin gas. Remember the howls about chemical weapons? Poof, PIF.

The caption to the second graphic: "Half of a surface-to-air missile site in North Vietnam blanketed in exploding bomblets dispersed by a U.S. cluster munition, Vietnam War."

Source: Ibid.

Of course, we "won" the war. Well maybe not. But at least 58 thousand Americans, some of my buddies in basic trainings, helped win that war.... that we didn't win. Kind of like Afghanistan, eh?

All the high faluting howls and complaints about cluster munitions and all make me laugh, as an old guy. The United States, Russia AND the Ukraine are not signatories to the Convention against this stuff. So just pick the cluster munitions you like and growl at the cluster munitions you don't like. They'll a be there in a jif, PIF.

Sounds like war crimes, all around the table. Have some.

Anyone with a brain. If the Russians don’t want to get hit by these, all they have to do is leave Ukraine.

So, you don't give a hoot about civilians living in those areas might suffer because these cluster bombs, just like you don't care that ethnic Russians have been targeted and murdered for nine years because we fomented an illegal coup in Ukraine and did everything we could to make this proxy war happen?

You're soulless scum.

The PedoTater, "Cookies" Nuland, Jake the Snake, "Short Pants" Blinken

Alex needs to start using that nickname for Nuland. She's just a girl with a dream...

I am coming around to the conclusion that in order to ever win this conflict or level the field to where the Ukes can negotiate from strength will require barbarous attacks inside Russia on civilian targets with heavy casualties especially women, children and civilian infrastructure. Until the Russians perceive having serious skin in this game they’re playing, there will be no withdrawal or mutually acceptable peace terms. ever. I take no joy in this, far from it, but a dozen or more terroristic attacks upon civilians inside Russian territory with heavy loss of life and the promise of more to come would certainly change the paradigm here.
Thoughts?

No. Totally wrong. Russia is commuting economic and population suicide, in addition to killing off its work force and future generations. Not to mention the government is becoming more unstable each passing day.

If the war ended today, with all the Russian troops going home and Ukraine whole with Crimea, Russia would continue to collapse. And China will take the Far East without a shot; the ruble will disappear as the yuan replaces it.

All those forces are in motion now; its too late to to be reversed.

Russia deliberately attacks civilians, Ukraine does not. Being so bloodthirsty is silly and unnecessary.

I like seeing Putin and the Russians losing. Putin deserves it and the Russians are hostile and have hundreds of nuclear tipped ICBMs aimed at us.

Go ahead and send them.

Then, send every Democrat politician over there to clean them up when the war is over.

The technical challenges of the CBU-97 were so daunting that the weapon was repeatedly suspended or canceled during development -- but then revived again and again because solutions emerged and the potential benefits were too great to ignore.

By the end of military buildup of Reagan's administration, the A-10, Abrams tanks, MLRS, and the impending deployment of the CBU-97 meant that for the first time since the end of WW II, a Russian invasion of Western Europe was no longer possible because the US and NATO had gained comprehensive and decisive military superiority on the ground over the USSR.

In the same manner, and using the structure of your argument, "Until we Americans perceive having serious skin in this game we're playing, there will be no withdrawal or mutually acceptable peace terms."

Thoughts?

Kudos. You, sir, offer a rational vision for the future. Unfortunate, but rational.

$32,000,000,000,000.00 and rising each and every day. That alone spells collapse.

Interesting view of it.
We sit on the other side of oceans away and facilitate this conflict continuing by helping the Ukes to not be conquered by invaders.
What skin do we have in this and many other proxy wars besides cash and arms given away?
Would the US perceive it differently if we were drafting and sending combat troops or advisors in public and visible numbers to fight?

--- "Would the US perceive it differently if we were drafting and sending combat troops or advisors in public and visible numbers to fight?"

Each year or two, some Democrat has proposed in Congress to reinstate the draft. While one reads pro-Z and pro-P sorts of things on recent threads on FR, the fact is that the current military is not meeting its recruitment goals. Big time not.

One finds such as "Why to Reinstate the Draft," from 2012 and published in HuffPost. Source: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/why-to-reinstate-the-draf_b_1907116

And so, "Young adults worry about the draft being reinstated after Russian invasion"

Source: https://www.13abc.com/2022/02/25/young-adults-worry-about-draft-being-reinstated-now-that-russia-has-invaded-ukraine/

All the arm chair generals and talk of sending dollars and munitions in massive amounts haven't yet thought through sending American troops. Because EU and US transfers of materiel and wealth have served today, along with those "strongly worded letters" and such.

How about "if we were drafting and sending combat troops or advisors in public and visible numbers to fight?"

A fine question. I suspect that perceptions would change.

Nonetheless, the largest trench in this current trench warfare talk and the largest cluster blow-up in this cluster chit-chat comes to the deep trench and clusterf**k of $32 trillion USD in debt and rising fast.

It is an interesting time in which to live. And die.
