Agreed. Funeral expenses also seem more manipulative, as people are vulnerable and don’t want to be accused or seen as being cheap for their lost one.
Globalism.
Believe me, we’re ending up paying for it.
The most expensive weddings are generally paid for by the wealthy and/or bride’s wealthy parents, not by an average young adult’s salary.
How the groom’s parents traditionally were off the hook I suppose is explained by their having contributed the finance-generating half of the equation.
But in the Instagram/Tiktok world, we have raised more narcissists than ever, so good luck closing down demand for what weddings still take place.
I prefer bass and trout.
It’d be a lot cheaper if you had a wedding on the national mall.
If the cops try to stop you just say you’re protesting divorce.
a bigger waste of money is a useless degree from a WOKE college.
How else can you prove you love her unless you spends many thousands of dollars...?
I give them a year.
Top reason for marriage, divorce....

Got married in 1970 and doubt we spent more then $100.
Been married for 53 years now, I wonder how many of those couple that spend tens of thousands on a wedding reach the 10 year mark/

Hmmm, They have $30K+ to spend on a wedding but can’t pay their student loans. I wonder if they ever learned the word “Priority”?
“their (the bride) “special day” that’s “just about them.”. Marriage is supposed to be a symbolic representation of the church’s marriage to Christ; where the center of attention will be Christ.
Explains a lot, why marriages go off the rails.
Totally asinine waste of money. Wife and I got married in 1973 for $20.00. That’s what I had to pay the priest when we eloped at 18. On our 50th year...and no, we didn’t have to. We didn’t have our first kid until 1977.
My parents had a pot luck type get together at their house a few weeks later with friends and family.
Sent a card to the priest every year thanking him till he passed 20 years later.
if i don’t have to pay, i don’t care. a fool and his money are soon parted.
sometimes the parents want to show off to their friends and relatives and the bride does not know half her guests.
I totally agree with you. I would like to skip the whole “funeral” circus. Why should the grieving family have to put on a party for a bunch of people they don’t see on a regular basis?
Having a Baby Shower is Over The Top, too
and now, expecting Moms are also expecting extravagant “push” gifts...
The solution is to turn to your loved couple to be and telling them, “we’re going to be spending $25,000 - whatever you don’t spend on a wedding you can keep to start your lives together”. The wedding will be tasteful and small...
How many men buy a suit for a wedding? Every big wedding I’ve been to the men in the wedding party wore rental tuxes and in the small weddings (usually second weddings) the guys wore their suit from the closet.
none of my many marriages cost over $100.00 apiece ... the divorces on the other hand were monumentally costly ... WAIT! ... did i say that outloud or was i just thinking it?
My Wife spent $200 on a dress, didn’t want a diamond (thinks jewelry is a waste of time and money), and we had family at a registry office in the UK. My total was around $1000 and that’s because I had to take a ferry from Holland to get back to the UK.
