It’s an absolutely asinine proposition to say that water is sacred, but this author has “no problem” with it because ice floats.

What I mean is that it is BEYOND UNUSUAL that of ALL substances that are liquid at room temperature, ONLY water EXPANDS when frozen. And if you don't see the implications of that (in that ice floats NOT sinks) then maybe it is time to remove the blinders. IOW, I don't mean we worship water itself but appreciate the fundamental Force in the universe that created that property in water.

There was a Far Side cartoon that had God writing the laws of Nature. “Things contract when they freeze, except water.”

YUP! And that is exactly what I meant. Without that EXCEPTION, say goodbye to life on earth.

“To be fair, PI culture isn’t advanced either.”

Maybe so, but the character who refused to supply water to Lahaina’s fire hydrants apparently was motivated by allegiance to some Indian guru.

I don’t know about Hawaii but the influence of East Indian religion on California culture is pretty advanced compared to the rest of the country.

The spiritualism and New Age cults that began springing up here in the late 1960’s were largely Americanized versions of Indian pantheism. Some of it was obvious, like the Hare Krishnas. But a lot of it isn’t obvious and just passes as generic “spiritualism”. All of it moves California away from what was once normative American culture.

Post WWII conservatism succeeded when it elected Ronald Reagan, both as CA Governor and then as US President. That was the result of an America still dominated by a WASP and Catholic people. But the 1965 immigration act radically changed who was coming to America and California shows you what happens. Culture precedes politics.

Should have hired a plumber rather then a "head in the clouds" collage boy.

Metaphysics is no substitute for practical knowledge.

I especially agree with your last statement. The effects will destroy the country.
We are to become North Brazil.

Drugs, lawlessness, no morals, and non homogeneous.

There is little common culture left in California unless you can reduce it to “shopping” or “driving”. Arguably no common language either, not even the Spanish that threatened to replace English thanks to geniuses like the No Borders Bush family. I probably hear Arabic and other languages as often as Spanish.

The American culture that Boomers remember barely survives, assuming it survives here at all. Which I suppose is why we see no ability to stop the open lawlessness.

Oh yeah. In SoCal since 1966. A front row seat for watching it transform from suburban America into the Star Wars cantina crossed with the UN.
