I have been asking the same question as everyone else, “How can people be without work when it seems every business has a ‘Help Wante’ sign in the window”?!?
Well, the small businesses, especially those franchise companies, are taking a BEATING from the ACA requirements and Obama’s legacy poison pills continue to bear deadly fruit!
My daughter has been a stay-at-home mom/wife for the last five years. Due to finances, she needed to get back into the workforce. She went to work at a Dairy Queen, making $10 an hour to start. BUT...here are some fun facts about this DQ:
They have NO high school workers because owners determined that high schoolers only want to work weekends, they are lazy, they are rude to the customers, and lastly, about 3/4 of them miss their scheduled weekend shifts, causing other workers to go over the ACA required hours for insurance. So, they stopped hiring high schoolers.
Next, they only give workers 24 hours of scheduled hours per week and they can only have five hours of overtime per week - PERIOD. When you hit 29 work hours, you are REQUIRED to check out and not come back to work until the next week - PERIOD!
She checked with three other similar fast-food joints, and all three had the exact same rules! Unfortunately, she is kind of relegated to working fast food because she can only work nights after her husband gets home to watch their two kids.
So, I figure the reason so many “Help Wanted” signs continue to linger is that people are seeking FULL-TIME work and most of these small businesses are only offering what they can afford to avoid ACA insurance requirements! Thanks Obama!
Plus nobody wants to work with the public and I don’t blame them one bit.
I had to - during COVID-19(84) - while the overwhelming majority are nice and normal, the ones that try to cause problems and the thieves are just too much.
I have no sympathy whatsoever for the unrepentant thief who feels entitled to steal. No sympathy whatsoever.
