That would, STILL, be the job of congress.

Stay in America and then be drafted to fight the Russians in the Ukraine in the trenches or run back south over the border to Mexico and hang out on the beach drinking beers, what will they do?
And the Slacker Raids during WWI. And the ‘Mother Of All Sedition Acts’, when war comes.
1. A sizable population that is sufficiently able-bodied and mentally sound to function in the military.
2. A general respect for the rule of law.
3. A general sense of civic duty.
4. A nation worth fighting for.
By any objective measure, the U.S. would grade worse now than at any other time in its history under all four criteria.
Their move to make it disgusting to serve, because you’d have to serve alongside with open homosexuals who may be having sex in the bunk beside you, would suggest that they want to drive the recruit numbers down in order to make the arguement that they can’t man the army like they used to so that the draft is necessary.
It also suggests they are planning a war that needs draft numbers.
I have always favored a volunteer military. But, in light of the inability to recruit because we are no longer a cohesive nation underscored by citizen of the world liberal democrats in blue states not carrying their weight, I am leaning towards a draft limited to blue states to form a citizen of the world cannon fodder corps.
Just resurrect “The Abraham Lincoln Brigade”.
A modified draft is a good idea. One year of mandatory training and then the reserves. Thus we would have a huge cadre of trained soldiers to be called up if needed. At the same time we could have an army the size of which we do now composed of those that want to make it a career.

Stop this and there would not be a problem.
I’m not having my sons sent to some unnecessary war that only benefits the defense contractors who happen to be major political donors. They would just become political sacrifices.

No! He isn’t planning anything. He’s a pod. I’m starting to feel like all these articles about slow Joe being “in control” are mostly gaslighting us into thinking he really is governing. Guess what? He’s NOT running anything!!
The politicians had best not put us in the position of fighting multiple wars simultaneously. Because one of them would be a hot civil war in which those same politicians could reasonably fear becoming targets.
We no longer have the industrial base to fight even one war against a peer opponent for a sustained period. We no longer have competent military or political leadership to win any war. These problems can be fixed, but a draft will not fix them.
Russia and China acting in concert? Pick which theater in which we can afford to lose and let it go. Push on the other one. Or lose both theaters.

Since they love Joe so much, surely the college kiddies will be in favor of this.
Organized criminal gangs pay much better. Military recruiters will have a hard time getting competent illegal immigrants to join the army.
If they go with that "path to citizenship" idea, you can bet those troops will be on garrison duty in the US and used to suppress domestic rebellions. They won't be going overseas to fight.
Two thirds of people between 18-24 will want to join the Chinese army. 😡
