“Economy is being kept alive by government debt and transfer payments.”

**************

If a breakdown in the stock market occurs a reverse wealth effect will kick in which could crush the economy. The Fed is undoubtedly aware of this and will do whatever it takes to prevent a meltdown. A whole new form of the “invisible hand” as it were. Not saying this is a desirable thing in a so-called free economy mind you.

I have a niece who is a FEDEX supervisor. She said they were going gangbusters through the Holidays.

Seriously. Often times when I came home from work in the evening last month there would be both an Amazon and UPS truck delivering on my suburban block.

My guess is package delivery in blue States is down considerably while package delivery in red states is up.

So his neighborhood will be in bad shape.
The FedEx leading indicator where I live tells a very different story. Ditto for UPS and Amazon.

Reading the first few replies on this thread, I have to say I agree - I see Fed Ex, UPS, Amazon all day long on my street and we have very low traffic. When I hear a vehicle, chances are it’s one of the delivery trucks - many Penske trucks with people also making deliveries. Maybe the person in the article just wants an excuse to sleep in and not go to work????

Yep, from above it must look like an antbed around my area. Plus there are the furniture and appliance delivery trucks.

“orders of same items are separated and delivered separately
sometimes post office delivers amazon, sometimes ups.”

That’s nothing new around here.

Well, just as long as the illegals are getting food, shelter, and free medical, all is swell.

I sometimes order packages to my office, cause it is just easier

Just got a fedex package today. the box was beaten into submission and I thought there might be smaller parts missing from the large holes.

anyway checking tracking they supposedly tried to deliver it to the office in a business park at 7:17 on Saturday, and then tried again at 9 something on Sunday.

Today just threw it out of the elevator on my floor cause it was so trashed, did not try to knock or anything they just threw it and ran away.

not like we don’t have an account with them and they did not know we would not ever be open saturday or sunday.

I sometimes dislike fedex.

The FedEx planes fly right over my parents’ house. If the wind is coming from the south planes approach over Frazer and then over the Memphis medical district and midtown.

I have to say there were some planes this year but not nearly as many as in past years.

My oldest kid was supposed to start a job x-raying packages for security at the hub but they cancelled the offer at the last minute.

Large companies like UPS, FedEx, Honda, etc. seem to be positioning for a slowdown. They probably have, and I know FedEx has, very capable corporate intelligence.

Our excellent USPS delivery woman tells us that they lost the Amazon delivery contract. We’d see postal vehicles on Sundays and they were out doing Amazon contract deliveries. I always thought it was ironic that the PO could not work on Sundays but the same people and equipment COULD work on Sunday under contract to others.
