Let’s address it another way: If the South was fighting for slavery, who was fighting against slavery?
Men who love women (not just as lovers but as moms, sisters, aunts, friends, etc. too) don't care to hang around with angry ones. I would bet that women who love men feel they same way (in reverse of course).
