Demolition of the concrete supports alone will take years to accomplish.

Must not let even a chip of concrete reach the river bottom.

Trump should mention that if he campaigns in Maryland. If you want your bridge rebuilt elect me and we’ll get it done. We’ll streamline the environmental review process based on the importance to the nation’s economy and security of getting this bridge rebuilt. We’ll do it in an environmentally sound way but won’t be held hostage to the whims of eco-freaks and their lawyers.

And there it is.

Heavy construction firms can get big stuff done very quickly. But, government.

Do I understand correctly that you don't live within 1000 miles of Baltimore, have never been to Baltimore, and have no knowledge whatever of the Baltimore traffic pattern?

OK, so you tell me what the trucks are going to do for the next 7 years?

We’d have to send a lunar rover up first to do an environmental study of the landing site.

That’s what is happening here. The old bridge is still up while the new bridge is being built.

Pensacola’s 3 Mile Bridge took even longer to complete because it sustained major damage during hurricane Sally when two construction barges broke loose from their moorings and collided with the unfinished bridge, knocking out sections of roadway that had already been completed and were being used by traffic...........................

The power brokers in MD don't care if it's done or not. They only want their pockets lined. And Balimore will vote they was those people want.

Dismantle the structure and remove, restore the shipping channel... pronto!

Figure out a train solution for transferring shipping containers out of the port facility (if is not already in place like some facilities in Hampton Roads).

Screw the commuters until those 2 tasks are completed.

Commerce first.

The current bridge is 4 lanes, two on each side, with a really narrow sidewalk on each side, and very steep, that you cannot ride a bicycle on. People have to push their bikes over it. And it’s difficult to pass someone coming in the opposite direction.

The new bridge will be three lanes on each side, a separated median, with wide walkways and a bike path on both sides.

It took 5 years to build the Hoover Dam, the first of its kind and only 13½ Months to build the Empire State Building. Both built during the depression and both still standing. It took 4½ years during the early 30’s to build the Golden Gate Bridge from scratch. So, yes, there was time in this country when we got things done.

That would only be the beginning. Just imagine how “diverse” the astronauts would need to be. That would take years of litigation to sort out.

The Big Dig was a little more complicated than this.
It contained one new bridge on I93. One completely new tunnel to the airport under Boston harbor. Then they buried the interchange between I95 and I90 under ground. Another 1.5 miles north to south. Another 2 miles east to west. Plus the interchanges to the existing tunnels going and coming from the airport. With all the on and off ramps. Under a city that was 300 years old with a lot of it built on land fill.

It was originally proposed at $2.6 Billion. Reagan VETOED it. Tip O’neil had the votes to override his veto. It ended up costing $14 BILLION.

It is a huge improvement to downtown Boston.
