Howard Dean: The Mayor of Milwaukee
11 Dec 03 | Xzins

Posted on 12/11/2003 12:07:48 PM PST by xzins

Howard Dean who is running for President of the U.S. comes from a state with roughly the population of one of our 2nd/3rd tier cities, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This nothing against Milwaukee, but it's hard to come up with a good reason for the mayor of Milwaukee to run for President.

Additionally, with only 9600 square miles of territory, Vermont is equivalent in size to the 7 or so counties that surround Milwaukee.

To be honest with you, I'd never heard of Dean before the election. I hear he made the news a few years back approving homosexual friendly legislation, and up 'til now that was his claim to fame.

Please add other facts regarding this man's background. To be honest, I'm underwhelmed by what I know of him. On experience alone, he simply isn't qualified to be president.

1. No military experience 2. No foreign policy experience 3. Silver spoon rich kid 4. ............ 5. ............. 6. ..............

I simply point out that the board presidents of most COUNTIES in the U.S. have had to deal with larger budgets than "Governor" Dean has.

DuPage County, Illinois, probably has more twice the population of the state of Vermont.

I think being Governor of Rhode Island is even more presitious than Vermont! Oh, and if liberals mention Coolidge, he may have been from Vermont, but he was Governor of Massacuttes-- pretty big difference there!

Excellent info, BB.

I checked the treasurer for each place to get a brief idea.

County of DuPage (an entirely suburban county west of the Chicago area, one of 102 counties within Illinois)
http://www.dupageco.org/treasurer/index.cfm
The DuPage County Treasurer is charged with custody and distribution of County money. The Treasurer pays the bills of the County and various other governmental bodies. T he Treasurer is the County Collector of taxes.More than $1.6 billion is placed under the Treasurer’s responsibility each year. All public and private funds are immediately deposited in more than 50 local financial institutions and invested in certificates of deposit and securities guaranteed by the full faith and credit of the United States of America.

State of Vermont (an entire state!)
http://www.tre.state.vt.us/Secretary/mission.htm
Overview of the State Treasurer's Office Our mission is threefold: to carry out the mandates of the law as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible; to provide prompt, courteous service to all those we serve – the public, State employees and members of the retirement systems; and to manage the cash balances and trust funds under the custody of the State Treasurer in keeping with the highest fiduciary standards in order to maximize investment income without undue risk. The market value of the state's fund was approximately $73 million as of June 30, 1995, compared with $60 million as of June 30, 1994. The system paid $1.8 million in retirement benefits duringfiscal year 1995.

73 million???

I know bird colonels in the army who manage more than that!!

Because this guy did "what?" is he up for president? Where'd he come from in the first place, and who's sponsored his early entry? Who is his sugar-daddy?

You have really got to question this guy's credentials.

Dean is a front man, who is running for a post he will never reach. The Dems know it, we know it, and he knows it.

The point of running such an unqulaified candidate is to circumvent the moderate dems from uniting with the left and coming up with a real candidate who may knock Hillary off in 2008.

i fail to see the difference. the size is proportional to everything else. it's not like either one of them leaves the office and directs anything. assuming that their budgets are proportionately the same, there would be no difference in the job they do.

Glad you feel that way.

We'll put a corporal in charge of the Army. Just different sized jobs.

Last time a corporal led a nation....hmmmm

Bush had 2 years active duty and 4 years NG duty, so he did have military service. He was a qualified jet pilot with the TxNG.

He had extensive foreign policy ties to the Carribbean, Mexico, and Latin America. Texas, being one of our largest states, both geographically, financially, and in population, provided an enormous training ground for Bush.

Bush was a rich kid. But "silver spoon" rich describes a particular type of rich. George & Barbara had GW BEFORE they struck it rich.....1000 square foot house, etc.

Dean is like Gore....always a part of the muckedty-muck, hoity-toity social set.

The comparison remains. Bush has had real experience as both chief executive of the nation, of one of our largest, most complex states, and in a number of businesses.

Dean grew up rich, aborted babies, and ran a place the size of a mid-level city.....less than the size of a single county in Texas.

Extensive ties to the Caribbean and South America, huh? Drug Gods, perhaps?
