Les Nessman and the WKRP "Turkey Drop"
WKRP in Cincinnati show | 11/26/03 | LS

Posted on 11/26/2003 10:46:07 AM PST by LS

On this Thanksgiving, let us not forget the wonderful episode on "WKRP in Cincinnati" in which the station concocted the idea of a "turkey drop" in which people from the station went up in a hot air balloon and dropped frozen turkeys.

Except Herb got it wrong, and dropped live turkeys, not knowing they couldn't fly.

Les Nessman, the newsman, reported live from the scene, "Oh, the horror, the horror. They are hitting the ground like sacks of wet cement!"

That was one of the funniest shows in the history of TV. I’d love to have it on DVD!

Yep, wild turkeys can fly quite well.
Domestic turkeys are just big ole sacks of cement ;)

“But lots of turkeys don’t make it through Thanksgiving.”

Oh the humanity! They're hitting the pavement like sacks of wet cement.

So classic.

The best show on TV in the late 70s/early 80s.

Yes...considering my age that means all but the last season was reruns for me.

Hands-down THE funniest moment in TV history ever.

I can remember my dad laughing so hard he could not get his breath, and his face started to turn colors.

I wish we could drop Hillary out of a balloon for Thanksgiving and see if she flies.
