When I turned 40 I was pregnant, I miscarried and developed an infection. I was in the hospital for 6 days trying (doctors and prayer) to get over it. Nothing they tried could get rid of the infection. I thought I was going to die. It was at that time the doctors said I needed a complete hysterectomy. When they did a routine pathology the doctors found ovarian cancer. (My youngest daughter told me that this child gave his life so I could live. I love the way children think and view the world.)
Anyway, the 2c refers to how the cancer (any cancer) is rated for severity. Starting with 1abc, 2abc, 3abc, 4, and then terminal. I really cannot remember the names of the drugs I had. But the treatment was for six months of chemotherapy. After two treatments and not tolerating them well I stopped. I knew the common reactions to the drugs, nothing that was supposed to happen happened. The doctors could not even believe my reactions and symptoms.
I am a Christian and believe in the power of prayer for healing. My youngest daughter was only 6 years old, my mom had died when I was 11 and my brother was 6 and does not remember her well at all. So I was determined not to have this disease take me.
I began praying and asking for guidance. The chemotherapy was killing me, and I knew that if I continued that the chemo was going to kill me before the cancer. On day while I was deep in prayer and study I heard and audible voice say "take no more treatments, there is no cancer".
I made an appointment with my doctor and told him I was stopping chemo. His response was "you will be dead in 6 months if you stop. You are a victim and don't forget it". After using the f word to him, I walked out of his office called my insurance provide and said give me another doctor, they did. This doctor said, he would do whatever I wanted to do, the choices were mine.
So on August 1, 2003 I hit 17 years. When I see the first doctor I always wave and say, "Remember me?"
So that is my story.
I thank God for my healing daily and my son who gave up his life for me to find the cancer.
Feel free to write anytime.

Dear giznort
In Feb. of last year Drs found a grapefruit sized tumor on my ovary. It was stage 2 cancer. Stage 2 means it had not entered into any soft tissues. Because it had slightly attached to my pelvis I was required to undergo chemo.

Let me reassure you that the fear of chemo is much worse than the reality. I never threw up, and in fact my oncologist said to tell him if I was ever nauseous. He said they had a dozen different drugs that would help that. We found what symptoms I had from chemo and stayed ahead of each one. I did lose my hair and get tired, but you can live with that for a short while.

Think of something you can do while tired. For me it was knitting. I would sit and knit during my treatments, and on the few days I was too tired to go to work, I would knit at home.

Also, CHOOSE to worship God. I knew it would be easy to sit and bitch and moan and be terrified all the while they were pumping drugs into my system, but I decided that I would glorify God instead. I took prayer requests and sat and talked to Jesus about others while I was stuck in one place doing something I really didn't want to do.

He was truly faithful to me, and I had a total peace throughout the entire treatment of my cancer. I KNEW that whatever happened in my body was under His careful watch, and that not one cell would be touched by either chemo or cancer, that He didn't already know about.

Keep your sense of humor. Find a hat you like, or just shave your head like I did. Tell you friends it just doesn't take God long to number the hairs of your head any more. Have a picture taken with all the bald guys at church. 8-) But above all, trust God. He loves you more than you can possibly imagine. His word says "He will never leave you or forsake you." That means now too.

By the way, I now have a head of gorgeous curly hair. I call it my $80,000. perm. OH, and the cancer is completely gone.

I agree. I shaved my head and wore a floresent pink and blue cap. I loved not having hair. My hair came in very curly and I loved it. Its not so curly now and the color is different but it makes one realise that its just hair.

People are slow to complain about bad hair days to me now.
8-)
I tell them, with a smile, "bad hair days beat no hair days!" It kind of gives them a new perspective.

This morning I received a call from the nurse of the OB-oncologist to whom my OB-GYN referred me(a Harvard Medical grad, no less)and she set up an appointment for an exam NEXT Thursday. She said that she automatically books a surgery date that can be cancelled if not necessary. It looks as though the next available surgery slot than can be scheduled will be 3 weeks, either from now or from next week, I'm not sure. She said they're very busy, the phone ringing off the hook. And I thought I was the only one. Thank you, everyone. I will find out by the end of the week when this date is. I'm very honored to have as many concerned responses as I've had, and very thankful for the awesome experiences that some of you have shared. Thank you, thank you, thank you! God bless you all!
