The Dixie Chicks had a new album (a live one) released about a month and a half ago. It's not even in Billboard's Top 100 anymore!

The "non-partisan" Rock The Vote, a movement begun by the late Patrick Lippert, will honor The Dixie Chicks for "their enduring commitment to preserving and protecting freedom of expression" their efforts bashing President Bush (overseas).

Rock The Vote exhorts MTV watchers to register to vote, though, looking at the list of past and current performers and honorees, one can be pretty sure where the majority of votes are aimed.

The non-partisan "Rock The Vote" (non-partisan because they are a 501(c)3 charity and it would be illegal for them to favor a candidate or party, or to openly oppose a candidate or party) is affiliated with SeeBS and MTV's parent corporation Viacom(mie). This article is one of the few to suggest (only suggest, mind you) that Rock the Vote "may" have a partisan agenda.

The IRS should have seen their advocacy banner ad telling California voters how to vote on certain propositions. Just as illegal as if a church did it.

Take away their tax free status and end the charade. Let them be a partisan PAC like MoveOn.Org.

Funny how all Sheryl wanted to do was "have fun" during Bill Clinton's wars. She never stood against his military efforts.

Her fan base is equally dishonest about the past. Last year there was an effort to bring the truth of this to her message board and her moderators got angry about Sheryl being taken to task for her comments. If we have to hear her then we should be entitled to respond to her on her turf. They didn't see it that way.

I wouldn't suggest anyone to go to her forum and post any political speech. These celebrity forums are supposed to be apolitical (except when the members are trashing conservatives). The mods at several of these celebrity sites even admitted that the celebs didn't even read their email or the postings. What kind of a fan club is that???

As William Shatner said on Saturday Night Live, "Get a life people!".

They are supposed to be a 501(c)3. This requires them to be non-partisan. They aren't.

Here's some of their recent activity:

AMERICA ROCKS THE VOTE video contest

**Disclaimer

Don’t get confused about this: the candidate who wins this contest in no way gets an endorsement or any other indication of support from Rock the Vote, at all. Rock the Vote is a strictly nonpartisan organization and does not endorse any candidate for any office anywhere at any time. We just endorse voting. This contest is for entertainment purposes.

Results Are In!

On November 4, 2003, Rock the Vote brought the Democratic presidential candidates together for a forum with the new generation of voters. It was aired live and prime time on CNN and millions of viewers tuned in. Nothing quite like that had ever happened before.

As part of this groundbreaking event, Rock the Vote challenged every candidate to produce a 30 second video that would appeal to young people and encourage them to vote. Candidates never do that kind of thing targeted at young people, so this was completely new.

Of course there were no NON-DEMOCRAT candidates approached to submit videos and no NON-DEMOCRAT PARTY candidates received any votes, but the again, RTV doesn't "endorse" any party. Right.

Take a look at the way "issues" are approached. There are links to everyone from the ACLU and NOW to Sierra Club, Greenpeace, the People For The American Way, and AFL-CIO. There are no organizations that reflect the OTHER position on the issues.

If any of their links are to partisan PACs and not 501(c)3s then they are promoting a particular stance. It may not be enough for them to have PACs on both sides of the aisle.

Defund leftist tax fraud.

it should also be noted that the dixie cowards gave the most money to Rock The Vote ever.. so they get an award. big deal.

it should also be noted that the dixie cowards didnt sign up with RTV until late July when they had only 10 out of 52 US stops left on their tour. it was a gimmick. they dont really care about voting and say they dont vote themselves.

It was a gimmick that failed. during the press conference they said the goal of this was to register 100 thousand new voters. From January - December Rock the Vote registered 150 thousand voters. It was the least amount of new registrations in Rock the Votes History. (maybe they can get mcain to go before senate and demand that people register with them heee-heee)

Punk Costumes - 3 Grand
NataLIES Mullet - 150 bucks
Getting an award from Rock The Vote - 100 Grand
Seeing the Dixie Cowards career spiral into oblivion - PRICELESS!!!!
