My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and I...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Walk with me, my Dearest Friend,
upon the grass at dawn,
dewfall cooling on our feet
gliding 'cross the lawn.
Steaming cocoa in our hands,
vapors rise in greeting,
frames you as you shyly smile
"Good Morning", at our meeting.
For as we stroll upon the grass,
this quiet, healing morning,
I'll let no dark tales hither come
of love that died a-borning.
Rather, let us walk and speak
of fey-realm journeys pleasant,
Here, in our bower, just we two,
with just our friendship present.
To: Samwise; Darkchylde
Yup.
Afeared so.
Darksis is my little sister.
Though I have to admit that she is the better poet between the two of us.

Well.. glowing inside a crater in the backyard.
*off screen: What? Oh, oh yeah. Forgot that part..*
It was just pointed out that it was a SMOKING crater in the backyard.

Good morning!
Two nights of dancing wore out the ol' Colonel .. I was in bed when your invitation arrived.
However, I hope to be fully charged this evening. Is your dance card full? :)

Far away from prying eyes
She waits, for my eyes alone
Wrapped in white, she is patient
And I am happy.
In the way only we know,
She smiles, perfect eyes shining
Darling, you are so lovely
And I am happy.
Your words leap at me
She laughs, and says "I love you",
Written for me in her own hand
And I am happy.
"I love the man you are," she said,
"Wait for me and I'll be yours."
Now, she returns to the white wrap
And my heart breaks.
Your precious image is mine forever,
My love will always stay with you
For now, your photograph is all I possess
And my heart waits.

Good morning everyone in The Lair.
I danced around so late last night and I am really late getting here I'm sorry.

Good morning Colonel. Fine poem you have written today. I like these lines and will write something in response.

Good morning Sarge. Absolutely lovely poem. This last stanza is so very sweet in detail. Strong images. Really good work.

Just Breath...

People always ask me,
Why I have tears in my eyes.
I'm happy don't get me wrong
But so frightened and sad
All at the same time.
You can never go back to a moment
When you were truly happy.
I have butterflies in my heart,
It beats so fast it scares me.
And though this feeling of passion
Drives my heart for more,
I'm so terribly frightened
You will take it away.
Make me swallow my heart,
That way when it flies away,
It can never be dropped and broken.
Just hold me
Let your breath warm me
Let our chests take in the air together
As one...

Good afternoon snippy!
Beautiful dancing last night, eh?? This poet danced so much she could not sleep!! LOL
Then, once I did get to sleep I was out for the count. LOL
You and Sam did so good work. Thanks so much for being a big part of what happens in The Lair.

We Continue...
Steaming mug, and a sunrise stroll,
Sets my thoughts and mind to roll
and amble through the morning's start
to dwell on pleanstries of heart.
From the bower we shall retire,
warmth and comfort our desire,
to a sunlit, flowered lanai
with high tea waiting for you and I.
Fine bone china, tinkling crystal,
framed by hoarfrost, rose and thistle
I in cardigan, you in shawl
Darjeeling's flavor softening all.
Gentle grin, brushing fingers
traces of last night's love lingers,
Plain as sunlight for all to see,
love is balm and salve to me.
To: snippy_about_it
And a fine good morning to you, too! I'm a little bummed that I was too tired to dance last night, but standing on the sidelines isn't such a bad thing from time to time.
-29 last night, -22 as of 10 o'clock here. Good day to stay inside and survive.

The Crucible of Bitter Sweet Love
In the crucible of love again
how could I hold in it
not tell you of the glowing love
I hold for you?
Can a peacock hide its many feathered eyes?
Can a rose hide its bloom?
Did serendipity kiss me again a fool
brush my face with her feather of phantom love
start my heart singing out love songs for you
and cupid pierce my heart to mock me?
Does she bring only pain or does this pain
mingling with the joy I feel to become a
golden apple of love that I must work for...
You are my golden apple, my peacock, my angst,
my joy, my sorrow, my night, my day,
my ceremony in candle light and ashes, my trial by fire..
My love light burns for you...
Oh walker of the stars
painter of night skies
caresser of magic paint my colors red, for love
purple for unbridled, unashamed passion,
green for growing, lavender for soft, blue for bliss,
brown for dying, black for death...
Paint it all that I may see the entire painting and longingly
burn in the crucible of loves trying fire...
Are there enough tears to dampen the fire to see your face
through a lover eyes? I don't know...

< chokevoice > I must respond...
To: bentfeather
I stand upon the edge
of an ice-coated field,
where grass and flowers bloom
and grow at the appointed time.
The ice is a reminder, all about me,
of ruined flights of romance,
wreckage of fragile wings,
holding aloft a weight too great for then.
But now...
I feel the passing whisp
of feather ice on my skin
I hear the ghosting whisper
of promised warmth on my ear
I taste the teasing dimpling of my lip,
as you press yours, fleeting, passing, to mine.
I, like you,
await but the season's turn,
for when the frost recedes,
love shall surely not.
To: bentfeather
I can feel all you feel
bursting through the distance
and wrapping, enfolding, beckoning me
to fly to your arms!I walk to you,
hoping to soothe away your desperate longing
but urgency commands me, too.
Faster comes the rushing arms,
the hurrying gathering embrace,
we collide with a clinging gasp,
gulping air between sobs
of joy and need.
My arms and hands move over you,
reassuring, confirming you're there
your arms fasten you to me,
muffled tears in the hollow of my neck
until the moment's fires bank,
and your head moves your eyes near mine,
and I see your love shining to me
and I kiss your tears away.

Universe Rising
Out of the black ice
and grey dust
A universe rises
A place of serenity, peace,
Warmth, loving, trust and hope...
Sojourner solace
golden friendship and respect
a mist sounds of mystical music
creative forces endowed to us
perfection in an imperfect world
Blessed by twilight hours
of dusk meeting dawn
candles of ceremony lighted
In innocence of new and perfect
waiting in robed beauty
anxious but tattered in years
stained by shed tears of a million years
from a mud hens' haunts
to a Bird of Paradise plumage
of spectacular splendor
Universe Rising

Did serendipity kiss me again a fool I Will Not Let Us Die
Do dreams come true?
Or would what I call the trumpet of success
really be the laughter of the gods?
Love is pain mixed with indescribable joy
despite my desolation, I carry on.
Can dreams come true?
Some days I am rueful, others simply sad
It's more than just "the one that got away".
What escaped me was my life, my joy, my all.
The one who heals me was the one who wounded.
Do dreams come true?
I know I am to forgive the hurt you caused
And smile as love's knife pierces my soul.
But I've done more, not only forgiven all,
my love for you now far surpasses then.
Will dreams come true?
Am I a fool to keep wanting you
When my life simply waits for your heart?
Its safe return is all my heart desires.
Oh, wayward one, I long for your touch!
Dreams must come true.
For if they fail, it's not worth striving,
not worth the cost of love's pain.
My dream will not die, you will not subside...
I will not let us die.
My dreams live on.
Are there enough tears to dampen my fire?
I weep for you daily, I long for your touch
But my fire will never, ever turn to ash
Carefully, lovingly, passionately tended,
I will not let us die.

And At Twilight...
Morning saw us, peace and calm,
warm hearts with no chill.
Hours flew by, high tea called us,
all smiles and gentle thrill.
But twilight dusk surrounds us,
and to my tower I must return,
The lonely watch is mine to stand
and comfort I must spurn.
But watch is difficult this night,
my keep is cold and dark,
and memory of the love you've shown
leaves my heart barren and stark.
I curl myself against the winds,
my cloak becomes your arms
I ache upon my watch this night
tho' my heart, your lovelight warms.
I find that, in my solitude,
my longing for you grows.
And my heart and body both conclude
I love you - and my lover knows.

A Mile of Snow Drift
Down the lonely road I drive
Never blinked or took the time
Words remembered lost in mind
Cluttered just like the road
Across the snow drift I must go
First one way, and then another
I swear that tree looked like my mother
Then pirouette by the pines
In my car as well as mind
With white knuckled hands I take my time
Down this mile of drift where I glide
The car rumbles, shifts and slides
As do the pictures in my mind
I'm halfway there with a swerve and a shudder
I may be swearing, but it's only a mutter
Sideways now with a curse and a glance
Wish that polar bear hadn't tried to pass
And with a slide and a twist, oh man I'm p!$$ed
I finally know that it's the road I missed
Along th bank I gently glide
Creamed a garbage can and a slide
Oh boy is the wife gonna skin my hide
It's the day of the drift
And I'm in for the ride
Oh wait, what's this?
I'm back on the road, more wise less bold
And with skinless teeth I have arrived
At the end of the mile long snow drift slide
