~The Dragon Flies' Lair~ VIII
January 29, 2004 | bentfeather, Poets of The Dragon Flies' Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Good morning Colonel! LOL
Hope today finds you stronger today than yesterday.

I know it's dang cold your way, but can't do one thing about the weather. :-)

My mother-in-law used to tell me years ago, Smile and the world smiles with you, cry and you cry alone. I wonder if she was right?

If Wishes Were Fishes

If I had any wish
That could come true
I'd wish for one more night
Of holding only you.

If I had one desire
That could be granted
I'd leave you breathless
Somewhat enchanted.

If I could have one gift
From you to me
I would ask you to
Give of yourself freely.

But, I'm not a child
Wishing on stars brightly
Hoping for what you can give me
Holding me in your arms tightly.

I've heard this once
If wishes were fishes
Then everyone would swim
But my desires are wishes.

I don't think wishes come true.

Misty Heart

Thank you. I went for short and sweet but your response has me convinced you can read my mind sometimes. ;-)

It's memory day, two good poems to start the morning.

old memories
stored away
to be brought back
relived
enjoyed
and then stored away again
while we make new memories
to be stored away
brought back
relived
enjoyed
and then stored away again
in an unending cycle

I don't think wishes come true.

This poor poet. Wishes do indeed come true. Thanks for the poem.

Wishes do indeed come true.

I'm still waiting for mine. My jury is still out on this one.

My jury is still out on this one.

You may one day find something or someone that is even better than what you wished for. It can happen. :-)

We hit -30 air temperature this morning. All the schools are out for the day and may not get above zero - high or low - until Sunday.

Cry and you cry alone? I would have said that before I came here. On the nights I cry, I know at least I'm not by myself. :)

I may, yes. But that would take God working in a way with which I am not familiar. Still, you can never say never. :)

Yeah, we cry together don't we? And write beautiful verse while we sob our hearts out.

Mighty cold out your way, burrrrr!

Brrrrrrr...

The temperature outside is fifteen below
the pager sounds and I must go.

A fire burns and the heat is nice
but the cold turns the hoses and water to ice.

Icicles form and hang from my helmet
and the Red Cross Coffee truck is not here yet.

More and more water is sprayed, its all we can do,
and now the building begins to look like an igloo

Winter firefighting can be extreme to the max
and we chip the ice of the hydrant with an axe.

I find refuge in a building next door
I take my coat of and stand it on the floor.

Slipping a sliding, the streets like a rink
and the cold is making it hard to think

After it's over we finally head back
to a warm fire station and a good sized snack

Hold my breath till I let it go
you will never belong to me
Touch my soul and I'll let you know
written that we weren't to be
I stand alone by the river's flow
regret the thing I wasn't meant to see
Hold my breath, I've let you go
you had never belonged to me
Took my soul, I'll have you know
history now, we cannot be
All alone I watch the river flow
regret this scene you never wished to see
