Yesterday evening, I was thinking of the earth standing still in the very near future and by god just by sheer coincidence I discovered a post #21 of this thread today which startled me.

I had encountered a ufo eleven years ago in broad daylight. I also had a dream back in '93 of them following me into my house and suddenly when I go to hide I can't move. I am frozen as they are hovering over me while I am in my pajamas. It seems they had paralyzed me for that moment. I could think but could not move. I woke up from the dream and noticed I was wearing the same thing.

Several years ago, my brother encountered one that was following him while he was driving all the home and scared the living crap out of him. To this day, it shakes him up to talk about it. He never reported it because he was very concerned of being threatened by our government. These DO exist. Whether they pose a serious threat to our national security, I am unsure.

The pictured group is obviously not going to be the "welcoming committee". Apparently Popular Mechanics is not a PC magazine. The pictured committee lacks minorities and known homosexuals. It does have John Glenn whom I once idolized as a child and lost respect for during the Clinton years.

What arrogance? The same arrogance that said traveling beyond the sound barrier was biologically impossible? Or that horseless carriages were either impossible or would alter your physical health at speed?

That is to say, the jump between moving THROUGH space to the technology of moving AROUND it is vastly greater than the jump between a slow horse and a fast car. FTL may well be possible in a hundred years or a thousand...where the science behind it is devined and understood in a million little breakthroughs made by men and women who devote their lives to it. However, backward engineering a completely alien technology without an understanding that "you absolutely cannot touch the red glowing glass cone if the air drops below 41 degrees, while the blue pulsing thing only causes gamma ray bursts if the black thing is spinning, unless the green light is on or else you vaporize everything in a two parsec radius" is a pretty chancy R&D project for the hairless apes who have no operations manual, when the manual is a black cube designed to interface ONLY directly with the mind of the operator. (Who is a three-toed reptillian panda who died in the crash at Roswell.)

This very scenario actually played out on my home planet. I was able to come to investigate earth by using one of their "rental" ships. As long as I stay within a three-galaxy range, it's unlimited mileage.

Before the President has time to blink, the hand scurries up his arm -- to his shoulder. (NOTE : the hand has a mechanical tail - curled up like a scoripon's tail).

Hey, what's going on here?

The scorpion-tailed hand scurries over his shoulder and on to his back. The President tries to swipe it off. Then the hand tenses its fingers - the tail uncurls and jabs its sharp point into the President's back.

Ugh!

The sharp-pointed metal tail comes through the President's chest. He looks down.

PRESIDENT

What IS that?

The spike-tail telescopes out of his chest!!!

He fails backwards, dead, on to the floor-map of the world.

The spike-tail's tip flips open. A MARTIAN FLAG snaps out.

The Martian Leader and his troops look at the dead President with the Martian Flag impaled in his chest -- and laugh.

Everybody here needs to read "Farnham's Freehold", a Robert Heinlein novel, about a Libertarian (well, mostly, he's more balanced) who's family, in a 1960's style bomb shelter, get blasted into a far future where the Muslims won. (Or were at least the ones who emerged into power after East/West nuked a chunk of the planet.) Hugh (ha!) Farnham gets to be the Daniel-esque adviser to a younger prince of the Empire. Alcohol is punishable by death, but "Hapiness" (hash) is an entitlement to keep the slaves in line. Non-muslims are slaves...or worse...as late in the book the hero discovers exactly why pork, which the Koran forbids, seems to be a mainstay in the Royal House...(long pork, that is, son.) If you want to see how a planetwide Muslim empire would run, go find a copy of this book if you can...it his horribly politically incorrect for these times.
