It's been awhile for me, but the ABA-accredited ones generally have (had?) a better reputation than non-so-accredited.

Yes... She's looking for something not so on the liberal side. That's what I was hoping to find here.

There's that one founded by the owner of Domino's Pizza ... Ave Maria SOL.

It had a conservative reputation, but I'm not sure if it's ABA accredited (and it's in Michigan. Not exactly "East Coast").

Cornell Law is actually pretty middle of the road, politically-speaking.

What is your wife's GPA, and LSAT score?? That would help.

We're looking at UNC or UVA right now... Boston is too expensive to live there. She is interested in Constitutional law. More along the research side as opposed to trial law.

I would say UVA is a better choice, if she were to get accepted. It's a better school, and it is easier to get a job with a DC law firm or political organization. UNC tends to feed more towards the South.

William and Mary is another decent option in that area of the country. I can't speak to its political leanings, but I have run into graduates from there all over the east coast and as far west as Cleveland.

UVA and William and Mary are both great schools(William and Mary turned me down in 1972; out of state candidates are in the hole).....%$##%@ , but wd's wife has a 3.97 GPA, and that should do it.

Can you get into UVA if you are without a trust fund and are not a direct decendant of the Liberty Bell?

George Mason gives access to D.C. (e.g., an adjunct professor was appointed chairman of the Federal Trade Commission). Faculty include a substantial neocon as well as libertarian influences.

George Mason does have a lot of conservatives and neocons. They also have specialties in patent law, and law and economics. It's up-and-coming, especially for those, but given that her undergrad is psych, she may not be interested in either of those.

UVA is extremely well respected.

If she wants to help people, however, racking up enormous college loans for tuition and fees will drive her into taking something that pays well, rather than something that is more people-oriented.

Also, if you don't have children yet, and would like to have children, racking up enormous college loans will make it almost impossible to stay home with young children.

If you live in Virginia, GMU and UVA are not so expensive.

Where is "home"?

Home byour driver's license is Colorado but we currently reside in Florida with her parents. Expense is an issue but there is family money that may come available in the next couple of years. I just don't want her getting stuck at a school where she would be taught by Ted Kennedy's cousin. GU, GW, UVA, UNC, UF, and FSU.
