[history]
ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- A pig cooker led to an accident involving a logging truck on the U.S. 64 Bypass at the Centura Highway exit just after 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
Billy Ray Daniels, 66, of Rocky Mount, was driving a 1978 Ford Pick-up truck carrying a pig cooker when it broke free from the truck and traveled into the roadway.

Poorly worded sentence bump.

Michael Elliot, 30, of Williamston, was driving a logging truck when he lost control of his vehicle while trying to avoid the pig cooker.I bet his tires were squealing.

Glad nobody was injured......
Too bad that it wasn't a livestock truck. That would make for one hell of a BBQ!!!!!

Really: and there's something for almost all Leftists to like -- a logging truck accident (Sierra Club); pig cooker probably destroyed (PETA); and a closed highway (the anti-gas guzzler crowd).
But seriously - once a logging truck gets shifted, it's all over. Kinda hard luck that the guy got a ticket for 'failure to secure'... that pretty much sounds like it was induced!

Yeah...this will be the lead story on all the local newscasts tonight. Well, maybe the second one, following another Duke basketball story.
To: Constitution Day
When pig cookers are outlawed only outlaws will eat BBQ -- and that will make them easier to spot (catch 'em red-handed).

Daniels was charged with failure to secure load.
That's the pig cooker guy, not the logger guy.
To: alancarp
Nope, the pig cooker hauler got the ticket, not the log hauler. Good think he wasn't a hog hauler .

When Christ returns, on local North Carolina TV stations it will be a secondary news item, behind some off-season ACC story in the lead.

Suggest you take lessons in America's newest non-hispanic language:
Nascarbro 1.e. don't make no difference to me if it was the pig or the truck or the logs. Shhiiite it shorely was a bigdamm mess out there. SOB oughta learn how to drive pig-cooker. Like missing hypen was problem all along damn log truck brakes.
To: Constitution Day
I saw parts of a pig cooker scattered all over the side of the interstate over this way last year.
I'm thinking its the homemade jobs with lousy welding or they've rusted to the point of failure.

To: beelzepug

This one's a nice one. A lot of times they are homemade by taking a 275 gallon oil tank, splitting it longways and mounting it on an old work trailer.
To: beelzepug

A homemade one.

That's a pretty heartless thing to say--Ummmm, if it was a livestock truck, they would have probably been headed for slaughter anyway.
But then I'm one of those weird types who put human lives over animals. So get ahold of PETA and sue me.
My protective lab would probably not let them near my house, though.

Reminds me of the time when a truck carrying watermelons turned over going down the mountain to Saluda, NC. The curve in the road was as slick as if it were icy, and cars were sliding into other cars parked along the side of the road by folks hunting through the weeds for watermelons that weren't broken...

At first I couldn't find anyone in that picture that fits the description of a "man."
I see a Terrorist, a Politician that used to let his male lover run a Homosexual "dating" service in his basement, and a Traitor that used to be President of the USA.
Then I looked to the far left...far FAR left...LOL

Billy Ray Daniels, 66, of Rocky Mount, was driving a 1978 Ford Pick-up truck carrying a pig cooker...Is this news outlet insinuating that there is a man living in North Carolina whose name is Billy Ray and he drives a 1978 Ford pick-up? Incredulous! This is obviously just flat-out wrong! Next, they'll be telling us he's got a soft-pack of Red Man in his shirt pocket, knows more about NASCAR than Keynesian economic theory, and is probably fond of fee-shin' and hunt'n'.
