I had to drop off my van this morning to be worked on, so Margaret drove me to work...or I drove their van and she drove back, but anyway...

On the way here, we saw a big tractor trailer truck with images of Marines on both sides. Looked like a recruiting tool - but very, very cool. I'd never seen one of those up this way before!

No kidding. That's three thirty, no?

I am NOT an evening person. I woulda been the one with my head down on the table, snoring and drooling...

OK, maybe not THAT bad...but I wouldn't have been all that intelligent or coherant by three.

For some reason this made me think of you...

When we had that big storm awhile back (must be getting on towards two weeks ago?), a tree fell on the power and phone lines near Dad's, and they lost both. The power was back on by the end of the day, but the phone is STILL out. They keep saying they'll come, and then not showing. One guy came on Monday, asked them to check if it was working, and when they said "no", he left without giving them any further info.

So...last night Dad called to give them a piece of his mind. He's supposed to be on call several nights a week, for one (he's a respiratory therapist), but hasn't been able to take it since the pagers don't work at the house, and the phone is out. PLUS he took time off work yesterday to stay home alllll day since they were supposed to come by and wanted someone there to let them in. No one showed. He was NOT pleased with being stuck there all day and still not getting service.

Lady who took his call listened to his rant, and then said kind of accusingly, "The repair person would always keep you informed if they were running late. Our normal procedure is to give you a courtesy call..."

I think he was speechless at that point.

Heh...Mrs. took this call yesterday...

Caller: "Hello, (wife's first name)?"

Wife: (thinking it was someone who knew her), "Yes? Hello!"

Caller: "I'm calling about your VISA, MC or Amex rates..."

Wife: "Oh, this is a sales call. I thought this was someone I knew..."

Caller: (catching on) "Uh, yes, Mrs. Stormhands, I'm calling about your VISA, MC or Amex rates, which one do you use?"

Wife: "Well, I guess it doesn't matter, now does it?"

Caller: "You don't have to be so hateful."

Wife: "I don't. Well, then I guess I'll just hang up."

LOL! They actually SAID "You don't have to be so hateful?"

Man...someone like that isn't gonna last long in a call center.

Dad had to drive into town to use my brother's phone, so he was already in a bad mood. I'm sure he was polite but sarcastic. He's good at that.

But he was still astounded by the stoopidity of that answer.

Oops...poor punctuation in that first sentence.

More coffee is required, I think.

That's exactly what the Mrs. said.
