Has any of you given any thought to this fact?
Teresa Heinz Kerry is the wife of Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts and the former wife of the late Senator John Heinz of Pennsylvania. Heinz Kerry was born in Mozambique, the daughter of a Portuguese medical doctor. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa,
Mozambique Location : South-eastern Africa, bordering the Mozambique Channel, between South Africa and Tanzania
So if John Kerry is elected , Teresa Heinz Kerry could rightfully claim to be the first "AFRICAN AMERICAN FIRST LADY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" a rich white women
Ain't gonna happen... Bush will win by 10+ points.
I much prefer Condolizza Rice...but then, she's not African. She's simply American.
If that is the case the W is Hispanic, being an adopted Texan and all.
Hell, at least he speaks the language.. What does mamma T speak, French?
i think you been smokin' to much tai stick if you think that ding bat is gonna be sleepin in my house
What is the point of this vanity of yours? Who cares where Teresa is from? This nutty vanities are getting to me.
Never will be the first black President....had that.
And Kerry's "man-servant" would be America's first "man-servant".
In the 50's & 60's the most right wing apartheid lead university in the world.
If there were more than a 2k cap, I would give it now!
She would be the most amazing commander in chief! Talk about the Reagan revolution, can you all imagine the Condi revolution? (Sorry Dr. Rice, I know you don't like being called Condi, but it is with all respect, just like we call Bush, W.)
Stranger things have happened. Bill Clinton was "the first black President", and Queen Elizabeth, it turns out, is of black African origin (among many other things as well).
please note the irony:
Rich White Women becomes first african american 1st lady
You've got way too much time on your hands
It may be irony, but it is irrelevant and inane irony. It is just a waste of bandwidth.
The term "African American" is a PC term for black here in the USA. So no, she could try to claim that but she would be soundly rejected.
Being born in China doesn't make you Chinese.
Being born in America does make you an American. You confuse race with nationality.
better luck next try. waste of band-width.
psycho on line 1 vs. One of the best First Ladies of our times.
NAME: Maria Teresa Thierstein Simoes-Ferreira Heinz Kerry
'Member Madeleine Albright's gaffe way back when describing a black African woman--"(Name)is the first African-American, er . . . African, African-American woman to . . ."
Didn't seem to bother UOx42.
I can't tell which one looks more First Ladylike!
And those are the only ones we know about!
Well, no, you're right... but at least he had some personality. She's a shrew with a screw loose who never learned the fine art of strategic silence.
Dear Master Bates, Don't vote, give both sides a break.
Teresa Heinz Kerry will never occupy the White House.
Yes, it is a close call, isn't it?
These are all AMERICAN WOMEN who's ancestry is from Africa..and were a part of American culture. Being a white American male I grew up with most of these ladies and more than what is just pictured here.. Even Lena Horn...she was still around when I was a kid. I don't remember third from the top.
I think that's Billie Holliday. Can't remeber if it's two Ls or one hehehe. If african-american is synonymous with black well they'd be more african-american than Mama T. When the term first came into usage, there were not a lot of African immigrants in America that it would cause any confusion. Even Eartha Kitt and Lena Horne aren't african-american, they're half white. I like American, it's a lot less confusing.
I must confess I have given no thought to this fact.
LOL me neither till I read this thread. All I know is that Mama T has no class.
