What Did Ben Barnes Do?
09/17/2004 | NickRails

Posted on 09/17/2004 5:34:07 PM PDT by NickRails

What exactly did Ben Barnes do to get President Bush in the ANG?

I haven't seen him interviewed. Barnes says he got the President into the ANG. Did anyone ask him any follow up questions, such as who did he call, what did they discuss, etc.

It's easy to claim that you did something, but where is the corroboration for the claim.

I will try to find a link but I remember Barnes under oath saying "I had nothing to do with getting him into the Air National Guard".
So he is a liar period.

He would have had to call General Staudt. the General has said a numder of times including today that he was never called about President Bush by anyone.

"I haven't seen him interviewed"

That's the best point of all. The whole Buckhead/FR/Rathergate reality has derailed the whole plan; and as a side note, I'm told that someone by the name of Kitty Kelley has some trashy book out but it's really not created anything of the "scandalous stir" which it was meant to do. Ah Danny Boy, how we love your conniving leftist soul!

All I know is it's pretty darned bad when a man's own daughter goes on tv and sorrowfully has to admit he's a liar. Haven't seen his ugly mug since, now that you mention it.

I'll bet Barnes is involved in the DNC-BS forgeries somehow, someway...

You're right, that's what he would have had to do. But, has he, in his own words, said exactly what he did?

Did anyone ask him what steps he took? Any follow up to his claim at all?

The GOP put out a "Who is Ben Barnes" statement recently that detailed his contradictions, lies and Democrat partisanship.
Of course, the MSM ignored it. (Except Dan "the DNC man" Rather.)

Wasn't Barnes involved in a scandal which ended his politcal career? Who has the dirt on that?

Well I'm not sure what your after, but there have been at least 3 different stories Barnes has told and then later changed. The only time he has spoken under oath he denied that he played any part in GWB getting into the TANG.

Well just google up "The Sharpstown stock-fraud scandal".

Yeah it ended his career and many people when to prison over it, it was in the "Golden age" of Texas political corruption.

I mean after all the biggest corrupt Texas politician was the President back then LBJ.

Totally delusional. Now, the MSM is trying to focus on Buckhead for pointing out the obvious. The MSM reporters (who obviously lean left and hate Bush) were too lazy, stupid, or duplicious to take a good look at those "documents" because they wanted the story to be true.

Now they're trying to kill the messenger. Idiots! They get more desperate and delusional trying to cover for Dan "the DNC man" Rather and his ilk. Their bias just drips, drips, drips until eventually they will drown in their own outrageous excuses, justifications, and lies. The pajama people and the more aware public ain't buying their lines anymore--thank the internet!!!

Here's a post from another thread that addresses this very well.

Posted by Truthsearcher:

I think this is very illustrative, it seems clear to me that the main problem with the Left is the inability to tell truth from falsehood. They think uncovering Bill Burkett as a anti-Bush activist and Buckhead being a Republican is the same thing.

But what they are missing is that the problems buckhead raised were objective facts, they were by definition, truths, that the spacings were proportional, the superscript, etc, none of this is deniable. Buckhead's identity is not related to the facts he pointed out.

The problem with Burkett is that if he is the source, the origins and authenticity of the memos becomes a huge problem.

That the left doesn't get this is actually kinda scary, people this detached from reality are dangerous.

You need to do a search on the "Sharpstown Scandal". Additionally, read up on the Tony Sanchez run for governor in Texas.

That would have required Dan Rather to ask probing questions, then answers to which he does not know or does but didn't want to; thus, no, nobody has asked Ben Barnes any of the critical questions.

Barnes maybe gave Bush the proper paperwork to fill out? Nuances...nuances...nuances... ;)

Ben Barnes was a big LBJ democrat at the time President Bush signed up for the ANG in May of 1968 and Barnes didn't become LT. Gov unitl 1969. Timeline says he didn't have the LTGOV's clot to help President Bush.

See posted of sept 10, 2004 on FR thread: Let's Get it Straight about Barnes Helping BushRuss, Sean?? Bush induction dates?? Sorry I don't have the hyperlink

He claims to have called General Rose on Bush's behalf. The testimony alluded to by someone else's response on this thread is not exactly correct. While under oath, Barnes said no one in Bush's family asked him for help, but he was asked by a high powered business guy, a friend of the Bush family, something like Adger (sp). Rose & Adger are both deceased.

As Speaker of the Texas House & UN ambasador under Johnson, Barnes would have had plenty of political pull. Thing is, was he in Geneva, Switzerland in early '68 or would his job have him doing a lot of travel back & forth to Washington DC? Add in a statewide campaign that year... When did he find time to help a lowly guy from the wrong political party?
