Yes, it sure is. Some will talk down the record because he did it in a 162 game season, while Sisler played 154 game seasons. MLB has played 162 game seasons since 1961 and only two players have even reached 240 since then, Erstad and Ichiro ... Ichiro twice! Just think of all the greats to play the game and not one of them has reached 250 since 1930. Amazing!

No problem on the double, I enjoyed reading it twice. Thanks for the historical perspective too. As for the 240 and 250, I believe I heard that Ichiro last night set the record for hits in a four year period by ANYONE in MLB HISTORY.

I have no problem with the 162 v. 154 game thing. For some odd reason it matters a lot to some in baseball, yet nobody career that former great football RB and current leftist idiot Jim Brown plays some 12 game seasons in the NFL compared to 16 now. MLB seasons are 8 game longer now. That is about 5 percent. In the NFL seasons are 33% longer now than in Jim Brown's day.
