This is a Happy Halloween vanity. Those of you who know what I've been through this year will appreciate this in particular. For those who don't know, I'll give you the Reader's Digest version.
I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer earlier this year, had surgery to remove the tumor (which was malignant) and two-thirds of my pancreas, the whole of my spleen, and my gall bladder. After being released following that surgery, I wound up back in the hospital eight days later with pneumonia and pleurisy. Ended up having lung surgery to save my life. Following that, my kidneys and the remainder of my pancreas began to shut down. It was only through the Good Lord's help and the prayers of many kind folks here that I managed to pull through. With luck, I may be cancer free...but won't be able to say for sure until June of 2011.
Now then...I told you that story so I can tell you this one.
Because of the diminished capacity of my pancreas, I am borderline diabetic and cannot enjoy Halloween candies the way I once did. So, instead of candies, my wife gave me a Halloween gift that is far better: a George W. Bush in 2004 Challenge Coin and a little stuffed elephant! (See photo below.)
I know how she found the elephant, but I have no idea how she found this medallion. It's outstanding!
Anyway, I wanted to share this with my fellow Freepers to share the joy. : ) Thanks for letting me ramble!
Love the picture! You'll be in my prayers from now on.

You won the wife selection it seems!..
My God Bless Bless You, Glad you are back.
Thanking God for your recovery. Great news.
Prayers of gratitude for your continued recovery.
What a wonderful miracle you have had! You will be in my prayers now for a good report in '11! I have seen the coins on some of the GW Bush sites. That elephant is just so cute. So glad for the way you have been blessed.
Cute treats, and they'll last longer than candy.
Happy Halloween.
