My definition of a Homophobe (VANITY)
Myself | Sola Veritas

Posted on 11/08/2004 5:07:19 PM PST by Sola Veritas

Now that the elections are well over, I am going to indulge myself with a VANITY.

I keep reading more stuff about homosexual marraige and/or civil unions. I do not think either should ever be allowed for both morale and economic reasons.

Whatever, I would probably be called a Homophobe for this. Well, for the record, I define a homophobe as such:

"A person with a perfectly natural fear of behavior that is patently unnatural."

Well, as long as this is "for the record" allow me to note (for the millionth time) homophobia means 'fear of men.' Homo-phila-phobia means fear of homosexuals.

On a more personal note, at high-school registration day, my daughter walked by the gay/lesbian table (incredibly they allowed this) and one of the denizens there asked her if she'd like some damn button or other. She replied, "No thanks, I'm a homophobe.'

That's my girl.

How about this definition:

Homophobe - A derogatory phrase, coined in 90's by the Gay and Lesbian community, to describe anyone who espouses a perspective which is contrary to their self proclaimed normalcy.

I am fairly disgusted by the idea of gay sex, but I have many gay friends anyway. One can be friendly and kind, and wish basic human dignity on someone's life, without focusing uneccessarily on the specific mechanics of what they may (or may not) do in their beds. Therefore, I think of a homophobe as someone who obsesses over their fear and/or disgust of the private lives of gay people. Someone who acts on the fear and disgust is often a criminal - like the guys in Montana who set up Matthew Sheperd; or just a jerk.

Gay people are human beings too.

I do not "fear" gay people. I just find them disgusting.

Homophobe = Fear of words that sound the same. Like "Gay" and "Homosexual". Or, 'one who can detect an agenda'.

Homos are abnormal. They're not *gays*. They're deviants, degenerates, lowlife subhumans. Homos are aberrations, which will hopefully, genetically, *extinguish* themselves, by not re-producing.

I'm gay (happy), but I'm not a homo. Any questions, rump-raider/ fudge-packers?

"A person with a perfectly natural fear of behavior that is patently unnatural."

Honestly, I have no idea why you care. Do you study your heterosexual friends and imagine what they do in the privacy of their bedrooms or in front of their computer screens? I don't know that I would call your view homophobic, I do find it peculiar though.

Wear it proudly, eh? How do you feel about this word?

One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ.

That passes for bigot. Looks good to me.
