What's up with Bert and Ernie? Are they brothers or....what?

Um... that'd be the "what".

Trivia: Denise Nickerson, the girl who played Violet in Willy Wonka and the Choclate Factory, joined the Short Circus for the 1971 season...

My parents actually bought a color TV when Sesame Street started up so that I could watch it in color!

It started out, I think, innocently enough -- good stuff with letters and numbers and sharing, etc.

But now -- like so many other kid's shows today -- it is an indoctrination machine for the socialist left.

It's a shame.

I always liked the dog who played the piano.

Of course it has been blamed for kids' having such short attention spans, with its jumpy editing and 30-second segments. Probably there is no such thing as ADD, or it's a sensory problem created by Sesame Street.

Does anyone remember Jessica, the Chinese Puerto Rican?

I remember the Twiddlebugs who were incredibly stupid, Henry and Liza and the Hole in the Bucket song, and Don Music and the Mary Had a Bicycle song, and I Don't Want To Live On The Moon sung by Ernie.

More recently, I like the African Alphabet Song.

Sesame Street was very politically correct and left wing. They are also a huge business disguised as a non-profit - scam.

I never liked it as a kid.

The mother of an old friend was a kindergarten teacher and blamed Sesame Street for shortening children's attention span. Although I'm sure it was a contributing factor, it seems inevitable.

Despite all its political correctness, I think Sesame Street has contributed a lot to get kids ready to read. And it's not just an American thing. I lived in Asia for 10 years and know that it exports itself very well over there.

I think I know the African Alphabet song you're talking about. I was always a fan of the 'I' song: "We all live in a capital I in the middle of a desert with a great big sky..."

Here're the lyrics, in case you weren't thinking of the same song.

Amazing
Beautiful
Creatures
Dancing
Excites the
Forest
Glade, In my
Heart how
I do
Jump like the
Kudo
Listening to the
Music, so
Nice the
Organ
Plays,
Quietly
Rests the
Sleepy
Tiger
Under the
Vine tree at the
Water's side, and
X marks the place 'neath the
Yellow moon where the
Zulu chief and I did hide.

I liked the episode. Bert and Ernie went frog hunting and gigged Kermit.I guess the other was when the Count was putting on a cook out and was going to have Miss Piggy served.
