Peterson: DR-Lawyer Quit Due to Threats, Claims Jurors Sought Book Deals
Wayne Resnick, KFI AM 640 and Richard Cole (Redwood City Daily News) ^ | 13 November 2004, just before 7:30pm Pacific | Self (listening to radio report)

Posted on 11/13/2004 7:35:12 PM PST by newzjunkey

Dr Gregory Jackson (Doctor-Lawyer) went to the judge Monday, complained they wanted to rush to a verdict and not look at the evidence. That was the cause of the mysterious "open mind" speech to the jury from the judge.

He returned to the judge on Wednesday, claimed the jury wanted to reach a judgement to please the community, claimed they were into book deals and felt they wouldn't be as marketable and other jurors had threatened him and asked to be relieved because he felt he could be coerced into choosing guilty and could no longer be part of the process.

Wayne was interviewing a reporter with the local paper, Redwood City Daily News. Richard Cole is the reporter on the story. He did not name his source. A published version of the story is coming in the RCDN paper.

If this is proven true, it should trigger a mistrial, right?

Doctor-Lawyer is still under gag order.

Apparenly, Doctor-Lawyer did not believe the necessary elements were proven by the prosecution's case.

KFI 640 AM (Los Angeles) continues to follow this "breaking news."

That was the analysis provided on radio, yes.

It's time for professional juries.

There is more than a little evidence to suggest jury tampering on the part of the defense, and this is part of it.

All it takes is one juror to poison the process. Or three. And not a lot of money, as it turns out.

Sounds like they're setting up for the appeal and retrial.

Another situation where you change the makeup of the jury until you get a "guilty" verdict.

And they say this is justice?

It's time for professional juries.

This will be interesting to watch play out. There has to be some kind of reform that says the jurors cannot do this kind of crap like plan for book deals or profit from the trials. I feel it will get worse before it gets better.

Don't be too quick to buy into stories with unnamed sources. Until there is something better to base this on it is nothing more than RUMOR.

If this is proven true... I got ya, but like someone else said it has been under the radar for some time now that this kind of grandstanding is happening. But thanks for the reminder.

Why?

Wayne sounds like a nut who was trying to not evaluate the evidence or case properly. It is absurd that he was claiming after a week of delieration that the rest were trying to "rush" to a decision.

No mistrial. And thank goodness this yahoo was dismissed.

I predict the only juror to have a book will be Dr. Wayne.

....unnamed sources....

Unnamed sources should not be a concern. It's the unimpeachable ones to worry about.

"There has to be some kind of reform that says the jurors cannot do this kind of crap like plan for book deals or profit from the trials."

Why? A soldier can write about his war experience, an airplane pilot can write about his career, an entertainer can write lyrics and chords and strum and sing.

Why should one particular life experience be precluded from compensation?

No. This juror refused to look at the facts and was trying to explain away the evidence.

Sorry, but in my world it is a good thing his pretentious rear was tossed.

Coerced into a finding of guilty. What a loon.

You mean Dr. Gregory Jackson (aka Doctor-Lawyer)?

Wayne is the show host where this news broke.
