The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread FOUR

*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Previous threads:

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - thread ONE
The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread TWO!
The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread THREE!

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!

All the ones I have seen do. But Belle did stand up with Dot halfway out:), it was kind of scary. But then she laid back down and finished.

I've been to the Equine Affaire in Springfield Ma loads of times. I absolutely love it. Haven't been able to go for a couple of years though. Do you know if it's already come to Ma?

No worries! Everyone has to learn, and what better place where you can voice your concerns? Certainly no one thinks the worse of you for it. :-) We just want everything to turn out ok!

I was looking for a mare and foal pic to get us in the mood, since Rose hasn't posted any of our mare...

Ran across this great page of 'in the act' foaling pics....

I've got one due in April. My mare Truly. And Bluebell's due in May. So we've got this to look forward to every month for a while.

Wow! Great pictures! I'd love to see one actually born. I've always just found them a few hours old. But I guess it's easier on the nerves that way.

Well, they seem to have had the luck of two day-time births... Most don't get a chance like that for good pics... just grainy ones taken in the dark. Did you see the high res version of the first mare, with the cat trotting across the paddock? ;~D

I'll be happy with a rolling pin. That's one weapon she's not proficient with. : ' } (That comment, by the way, will get me into more trouble than I'm already in.)

Boy, that mare was walking around with the poor little bugger hanging half way out then sits down, but it doesn't look like it hurt him any. I had a hard time trying to figure out if that was the placenta he was laying on or a white towel. Could you see it any better?

Very exciting! Have you kids been down there to see real quiet or are you all watching from the porch?

Sugar may rest a few minutes before getting up... good to rub the baby with towels if it's cold out... if mom doesn't mind the help.
