JON STEWART MAY IMPLODE?
NRO - TC ^ | 2/1/05 | Tim Graham

Posted on 02/01/2005 3:13:31 PM PST by swilhelm73

Jon Stewart, late in the Daily Show last night to Newsweek pundit Fareed Zakaria: "I’ve watched this thing unfold from the start and here’s the great fear that I have: What if Bush, the president, ours, has been right about this all along? I feel like my world view will not sustain itself and I may, and again I don’t know if I can physically do this, implode. (Hat tip: David Frum).

I didn't catch the Daily Show last night. Were they making fun of the election?

"...my world view will not sustain itself..."

Yeah, the world view that certain people were just naturally born to be the slaves of dictatorial masters - the world view that, "They're not from my country, so why should I care?"

It'll be easy for the hollow man to implode.

Off topic, but has anyone seen any polls since Sunday (even snap polls) about Americans' reactions to the Iraqi elections? A bump for Bush? Support for the effort in Iraq? I haven't seen any, which prompts me to ask: What are they hiding?

If you don't straighten up, there is a good chance you'll burn in hell, Jon.

Just wait. Liberals will find somebody else (other than Bush) to give appraisal when they have no other retort but to admit Iraq is a success. Think Gorbachev.

Ahhhh, allow me to indulge myself for a brief period as all of these panicked, manicured Holly-socialists actually have to take a moment of self examination. It must be exceedingly painful for them.

........

OK, fun's over, back to the fight!

Let me know so I can set my TIVO. Can you make sure some of your liberal buddies are sitting with you when you implode? Maybe we can get some collateral liberal damage.

the great fear that I have: What if Bush...has been right about this all along?

His use of "great fear" is the most telling thing of all. What would Bush be right about? That democracy could take hold in Iraq and spread through the Middle East, thus strangling the lies and hate of terrorism with the hope and optimism of FREEDOM? THAT is what liberals FEAR? In other words, the libs would much rather be right and have terrorism and oppression continue unabated than be wrong and see untold millions, if not billions of present and future lives be spared Islamicist extremism and enjoy liberty? I have always suspected this of liberals, but you can rarely catch one actually admitting it, even unintentionally. If anything the liberals should have been saying "I FEAR that I'm right and Bush won't bring peace or freedom to the ME...". Instead they are actually saying now "Bush told us that the war in Iraq would result in DEMOCRACY'S birth in the ME, and I AM AFRAID HE MAY BE RIGHT". More democracy in the world? Yes, HOW HORRIBLE!

So. . .he is saying he would be happier if the Iraqi people suffer suffer and American fail (die)?

Is that what I just heard?

John Stewart is like a young Dick Gregory.

If Dick Gregory were white...and not very funny...and slightly more arrogant.

Okay, so maybe that analogy doesn't hold up under scrutiny.

(Back to the drawing board.)
