I put a music CD that came with a book into my computer last night, played, and now my computer won't recognize either my CD or my CD writer.
I've tried everything; Norton, Restore, rebooting.
Does anybody have any suggestions about what I might try now?
LOL, maybe I better get to bed, that last post was for Cold Heat.

Sound Force? I downloaded the free Sound Force 7.0 thing just to see what it was because somebody mentioned it on a thread here last week.
My husband has a band and we're always looking for yet another program to make it easier. It was HUGE and complicated, so I ditched it.
I am running XP and I bought the version that was out just before Symantec bought Powerquest.
But I haven't installed it on the system in the CMStracker case, and I don't know where my box is for it.
So what is the most intensive think you do with your computer, that takes time to get what you want?
One thing you COULD do, since you have an 80gig drive, and the "sytem" does not usually need more then 15 or 20gig, for its needs::
DO a Partition. That is what I have done.
I wanted my music and video files to be in a seperate location from the "c" drive. Like you , I have a lot of them. SO, I partitioned my drive, and have 2 "virtual" drives, labelled "c" and "D". I have over 40 gig for my media space, this way.
The DOWNSIDE of this, is if you lose a drive, it is ALL lost. Last month, I lost hard drive. Luckily, I had seen it coming.I had tied another drive in place and had backed up MOST of my files, so, when, after new years, the driev died, I did not liose too much. BUT.. Until I could get windows reloaded, I was wihtout a computer ,for 8, loonnnnggg days!!!!!!!
BTW-- good job, with the regedit fix. THAT can be tricky!!
I was out, till a little bit ago, with my sister, seeing "hitch", with Will Smith. Not too bad, not too dirty. Might be worth seeing, none of the usual, black on white racism, as in some of those kind of movies, and it is FUNNY.

Well you said you wanted things to run faster.....what things?
Actually, that's even better than just a 2nd hd. Especially if you have more than one pc, just back em all up to the usb drive.
Not sure how the restore works if you loss the system's hard drive unless they supply a CD that you can boot from.

Oh, DUH.
I burn a lot of CDs and photo CDs; and it seems like Adobe Photo Album and ACDSee take forever to open. Photo Story, label makers, stuff like that.
The only game I play is Collapse II.
Memory would definitely help that....
DriveImage and TrueImage will restore from bootable floppy or bootable CD in case the hd is unbootable.
Howlin, besides and increase in speed by adding more ram, your system will be more stable, when system memory gets too low (and it will at 256mb), then it becomes unstable and you get crashes which causes data corruption, file system damage. Definitly get more ram.

Go to newegg, they are by far the best in price and reliability for service and delivery, and returns. I have bought gobs of stuff from them over the years, have never been disappointed.
Newegg, and FRey's , PC CLub is where I get my stuff.
If you are not near a large Metro area, mail order is a good option, I have multiple Frey's to choose from here, so I go there first , but always check out things on the internet first.
