I'm neither hot nor bothered. Just stating the facts.

An opinion is not a fact, dude--including yours. Get over yourself. Later.

Well I'll say this about Applewhite, at least he really believed in what he was saying, whereas Hubbard was just a huckster looking to make a buck.

Ellison also fell for the claims of Chevron F310 (the car idling in the clear balloon)....

F-310 was some additive that Chevron claimed cars ran cleaner with, and there was a commercial, which I vaguely remember, with the astronaut Scott Carpenter, and a car idling in a balloon to illustrate how much cleaner the emissions were with F-310 in the tank.
At the time Ellison was writing a column in what was called the Los Angeles Free Press, something I imagine was along the lines of the hippie rags you can pick up nowadays while going out the door of Tower Records.
Ellison was naïve enough to fall for it, and recommended it to all his readers and friends, and was rightfully hammered for it. Ellisons a helluva writer, but hes only human, and he could be had. (I think he exhibited the same naïveté over Hubbard).
You can read it in The Other Glass Teat ( beginning in column 54, dated 2/20/70).
Despite his political bent, Ellison could many times be spot-on about Television, and for me his piece about sordid beauty pageants and little girls (column 77, dated 9/4/70) became synonymous after the murder of JonBenet Ramsey.

You were merely informed of the existance of Xenu. To properly know Xenu you must do the work. Nothing in this life, even Scientology, comes easy.
