COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The 8th FITA World Indoor Archery Championships will begin one week from today in Aalborg, Denmark. The tournament will run March 23-27 for both recurve and compound senior and junior men and women.
This competition is expected to be the largest Indoor Archery Event in FITAs (the International Archery Federation) history with almost 400 competitors competing from approximately 50 countries around the world. The U.S., France, Italy and Sweden are expected to be the four largest delegations competing at the event with more than 20 athletes each.
The U.S. is sending a team of 24 athletes, which were selected in January at the World Indoor Trials...

He is very excited, a little nervous, and is meeting so many people. He called home to ask about Terri (Schiavo) and wants to know what the courts are doing. He said she is in his prayers, even from around the world.
Please keep the US team in your prayers this week.
How exciting!!! I am so glad for you and your family. I will keep them in my prayers and look forward to hearing how the competition goes. Good luck to all involved.
Thank you! We are VERY excited!
You should be excited. Thats quite a feat. Congratulations to you, your son and family.
I'd heard somewhere along the line that Geena Davis, the actress is a world class Archer. Do you know anything about this?
Prayers for Terri. She's always on my mind.
Good luck to him! Please ping me with results!
All the best!
Thank you! His dad and I are going crazy because we aren't there!!! He's worked very hard for this. The qualification round starts at 2am our time and will last until 5am. He's a little worried because he's having equiptment problems already and he woke up with a stomach ache from nerves this a.m.
I have heard about Geena Davis being a competitive archer also, but I've not read up on it.
Our entire family is into archery, but only two of our children compete. My son is aiming for the 2008 Olympics.
I will ping you Fierce Allegiance, but I am new at this. You will have to tell me how to do it?
You have already pinged me. Just make sure my name is in the to box above the box you type your message in. You can use this thread or create another with results.
I can certainly understand the nerves thing, I felt like I was going to puke the whole time between the time I qualified and the time I actually got to the gate for my first Pro BMX race.
Best luck to the boy!!!!
Day 1 results: He was number 12 after round one, but fell off due to a miss in the second round. He is 24th. They will now have a round robin match to determine who stays and who goes. Is there a way to post a photo on here?

That's a great accomplishment!
If what I tell you gets confusing, do a freepsearch for HTML Bootcamp or HTML Sandbox.
To post a photo, it must first be stored somewhere. If it's one you took or someone sent you, you can use a free hosting service like imagestation or photobucket. You can't post pics from your computer directly without uploading to the internet.
In any case, to post a pic, you need to obtain the URL of the pic. Take your mouse and point on the picture. Right click and at the bottom there is a "properties" option. Select that, and then there is a line for the address of the pic. Copy that full address (be careful, sometimes some of the address is hidden.
To get the pic to come up on Free Republic, you have to use some HTML code. It is not as bad as it sounds. I learned all the HTML I know the same way you are about to.
The carat (<) ets the computer know you are using HTML. Within the carat is the command you want the computer to do. Another carat (>) is used to close out the command.
To post a pic, the command will look like
< img src=(insert pic address here)>
EXCEPT you must remove the space after the first carat.
OK, that's a start, let's see if it will work!
YOU DID IT! That makes me happy with my teaching ability!
That has to be damn hard to shoot at that level in a setup like that. Those are some small targets, too. Not like I remember from summer camp.
Is his dad military? Good upbringing, clearly.
Thank you so much for the help! They are small targets and they're 18 meters away!!! I can't hit them. I just shoot fish! LOL!
I like helping others learn. Someone did it for me. Paying it forward, or however the phrase goes.
If you click on my name for my about page, there is a pic of my twins before they went bow hunting for turkey up at my brother in laws place in Vermont. Of course they make so much noise the turkey are gone, which is just as well, but they like it just the same.
Is his dad military? Good upbringing, clearly.
No, but he was a police officer for seven years. We homeschool our children, so we're not constantly having to battle against the same things other parent are battling. The young man who placed 3rd, Aaron Tedford, is also a homeschooler.
I have to say...that pic of you doing "light" housework cracked me up!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called my husband in here and said, "Honey, you know how I have a hard time getting you to change a lightbulb?" and then showed him the picture. We both laughed so hard and I nearly fell out of my chair.
Ok...this is where we're at: My son ended up 21rst in the World. His teammates took 3rd and 6th for the US.

For the Junior Recurve division, the US team is in 4th place and will be competing again tomorrow for final placing. Yesterday they came within 3 points of setting a new world record.
That is a great picture with your girls in camo! I know what you mean about the talking. It's SO hard for us girls to NOT talk. LOL!
The Junior US recurve team made it all the way to the finals, but tied with Germany. They had a shoot-off and Germany won 21/17 because our third team member didn't have time left to shoot. He could have hit anywhere on the target and we would have won. My son is so distraught that he took too long to shoot.
He also reported that the spectators and other countries bood and hissed, banged pan lids, smacked cracker things together, etc....to throw them off in their shooting. They are not used to that. Here in the US, we get VERY quiet when someone is shooting, even from the other team, so they have the best chance possible. It's supposed to be a gentleman's sport. I guess I will have to help him get ready for the Olympics by standing behind him with pots and pans, pounding them together and shouting boo. Sad.
A hearty congrats to your son & his teammates for a job well done under adverse conditions!
You clearly have mastered posting the piucs!
I would love to hear about any future tournaments, please keep me in mind!
Congratulations to your son and his team.
Too bad about the unsportsman like conduct from the other countries. Something to train/plan for next time.
Thank you! My son said that the US team also participated in the hoorahs. Others have said that they were cheering for their own teams so, I'm not quite sure what happened. There was no hostility though, and many new friendships were formed!
