HAS ANYONE WONDERED WHY THE MSM HAS ALL-TERRI ALL THE TIME? (VANITY)
Self ^ | MMarch 25, 2005 | Edward Watson

Posted on 03/25/2005 6:23:30 AM PST by Edward Watson

All of us conservatives know the mainstream media is anti-conservative, anti-Republican and anti-Bush. They ridicule and oppose the pro-life movement. They make fun of Catholicism and Evangelicalism (and Mormonism and any Christian conservative denomination).

Why then are they giving the Terri Schiavo situation this extensive coverage? One cannot watch the news on any TV channel or read any newspaper without the Terri Schiavo case as one of the leading stories.

We've learned several things over the past few weeks:

1. President Bush's approval ratings have PLUMMETED since he got involved.

2. Anywhere from 2/3 to 4/5th of those surveyed believe the GOP-led congress and President Bush SHOULDN'T have poked their collective noses into the case.

3. Many of those who want Terri's feeding tube reinserted have vowed to punish the Republicans for not doing enough.

What these mean is there's a direct negative causal effect against President Bush and the Republicans.

This is why the MSM is covering the Terri Schiavo case - they know it's a 'lose-lose' situation for President Bush and the GOP. The longer they play it; the more damage is done to the Republicans.

The leftists and liberal Democrats couldn't be happier. This single case has turned their fortunes around and instead of losing more congressional seats in 2006; they now stand to gain a significant amount - perhaps even retake control over congress.

Why? Because the GOP will lose support from moderates and independents for their 'interference' and will also lose support from those who will want to punish them for not doing enough to keep Terri alive.

So, way to go Republicans! You've now given the Democrats control over the US just because you let your emotions be manipulated without thinking of the consequences.

This is the dumbest thing I've read on here yet.

I'll second that.

My guess is because it happened on an Indian reservation.

I told my wife it was almost like the MSM said collectively "What would you expect from Injuns?"

Strange that the majority of posters on the Schiavo threads are starting to sound alike.

If I read another post with

"I'm never going to vote Republican again"

"I'm never going to give a cent to the Republican party"

"Jeb Bush will rot in Hell for doing nothing"

and my always favorite

"IT'S GEORGE BUSH'S FAULT"

Something tells me we have been infiltrated bigtime. I would like to think this anyway. I think I will leave this site for a few days and maybe they will be gone.

Most Republicans, in three different polls, opposed Bush's and Congressional involvement in this matter.

Word up...The GOP is playing this wrong. They need to read the tea leaves.

The media is just doing it's job.

It takes 24/7 spin to shape this story to help the DNC!

Claiming those polled who disagree with what President Bush and the GOP led-congress are just "dems" will give you a democratic body of anywhere from 66-80% of the total population. Are you sure that high of a percentage of the US population are actually "dems"?

Probably higher. About 85% of the U.S. populace are socialists.

Bush could care less what his poll numbers are. He has always put his beliefs first.

That being said, the 24/7 media circus is disgusting, horrible, and a self-perpetuating ratings monster. Frankly I wish the families had NOT gone to the media.

What good is a government that starves a disabled woman to death? What good is a party that lets it?

Sometimes our faith calls us to do the right thing, despite what might be politically correct, or expedient.

It seems to me another person of faith, who also had a government rule against him, was sentenced to death 2000 years ago on this very day.

Ironic, isn't it?

Blessings to you and yours.

If we only had a president who was driven by high poll numbers and focus groups.

"Should I help save a woman's life or buy a dog named Buddy?"

You are absolutely correct. Someone in this case went to the press ... probably early on. These right-to-die cases are normal everyday occurances. But this one has blown up beyond all measure.

Well, some of the folks saying those things about Jeb and George W. have been on Free Republic for a long time. They're not all newbies or trolls.

My point is that there are lots of people here who are fair-weather supporters of conservatism. They're for it when it agrees with their list of important things, but turn their backs whenever something doesn't go exactly as they'd like it to.

This Terri Schiavo thing has brought that to the forefront. Despite both Bush brothers' hard work to save Terri, the fact that they won't do illegal things to save her means, to these people, that they aren't deserving of support.

That's the problem with one or two issue people. They blow with the wind and support whomever gives them what they want.

It's pretty sad.

Why then are they giving the Terri Schiavo situation this extensive coverage?

This notoriety is part of George Felos' plan.

He says Terri will have a peaceful death, but people know that death by starvation is gruesome. They will clamor for "physician assisted suicide" death by injection, which is what Felos' helpers, the ACLU, have wanted all along.

ACLU Honors [former chief justice of the Florida State Supreme Court] Kogan With Poynter Award

Yesterday Felos publicly thanked the ACLU for their help in killing Terri. I think Felos is trying to spread the guilt around a little.

I disagree. The only ones who politicized this were those on the left. The right simply tried to remind us that there is a higher power than the judiciary - a power that is recognized by the United States Constitution. It was a noble attempt, one doomed from the beginning, but still noble. I don't think this will have longterm adverse effects at all. Whereas the law must be followed, those who make laws and those who administer judgements are not infallible. This event simply pointed out what we already know - that there is a great divide in this country caused by those on the left who have made it their life's work to secularize our society and that they are unhappy with the growing backlash against them.

Could it have something to do with the 2 terrorist groups who claimed responsibility for the Texas refinery explosion? There was a lonely thread about it here at FR.

Right! Judge Greer is a Republican, should he be re-elected just because he has an R after his name? I think not!
