In light of the tragedy in Florida, I have decided to make out a living will. I do not want what is happening there to happen to me. I wish to make my feelings known now while I still have time. While I make out this living will I continue to pray for that lovely woman, Terri Schiavo and her family.
Some people may think that I am making light of the situation, but I am not. This living will is made in all seriousness and I hope that the State of Missouri will take it as such. I will be taking it to a lawyer and have it all nice and finalized. Below you will find the living will. I did not write it all myself, but found most of it on the Internet Living Will. Here it is:
If I wind up severely brain damaged you will perform all the tests necessary to prove your case. You will not rely on the word of some clown who's too lazy or stupid to do a proper examination, you will do an MRI and a PET and any other necessary test to prove your case beyond a reasonable doubt.
You will engage me in conversation. You will stimulate what remains of my mind. I will be taken outside for daily walks, given dogs and cats to pet (as well as I am able), you will keep me involved in the world and aware of my surroundings. You will not keep me locked up away from the world, the better to expedite deterioration and death. You will not forbid cameras or camcorders in my room for any reason. You will not forbid other relatives from coming to see me any time they wish whatever the time of day or night.
I will be give all forms of rehabilitation. If there is even the slightest chance I can improve you will encourage that improvement.
Anyone who has no knowledge whatsoever of my case and who claims that I am in a persistent vegetative state shall be taken to court for defamation. The money gained from such suits will go to my support and rehabilitation. The same applies to those who do the examines on me, and then see fit to lie about my condition.
If I need a feeding tube, any attempt to remove said feeding tube shall be considered attempted homicide and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. In addition, if said action was ordered by a court of law, against the wishes of this living will, the judge presiding is to be charged on civil rights grounds and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
Anyone, of any stripe, who states that I would not want to be in such a state is to be stripped naked, his skin rubbed raw with scrubbing pads, salt placed on the wounds, and then tossed into a vat of carrion beetles. After being given drugs that will heighten their sensation.
If provided with a guardian and said guardian petitions to have me killed, that guardian is to be charged with attempted murder and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
I'll die when I die. You will not rush matters. You will leave will enough alone. Death happen soons enough for us all, don't be so damn eager to hurry it up. It's up to God to decide when I die, not a judge, not a person, not the media and certainly not an opinion poll.
Please feel free to expound on it and add to it. We all need to be safe in this culture of death.

We took care of this before we were married. I hope this is a wake up call to the rest of the nation. None of this crap would be happening if they had these papers in order. It is a horrid shame.
That would make a nice sign to hang over the bed that you reside in....makes sure they know exactly what you want done. To take the word of a man, 7 years after the fact, is a travesty to me.

My wife and I are taking care of it this week. Hers is going to say the same thing as mine. There will be no question as to what we want done.
Here in Missouri all you have to do is write or type out your wishes, sign it in front of a notary and two witnesses who are not your relative and are over 18.
Then you file a copy with your doctor, the two witnesses and yourself.
It's rather easy unless you want a durable power of attorney.

I hope that your wishes are attended to and that no-one in you family feels the need to go to court for their own selfish reasons like the Schindlers have in defiance of Terri's wishes.
