There has been ample discussion about whether and under what conditions an autop*y will be performed upon Terri.
Putting aside the hopelessnness and resignation implicit in having reached this point in Terri's story, one important fact needs to be understood by those Freepers who are expecting that the procedure will provide damning details about Michael Schiavo.
First, understand that Michael (ever the sociopath that he is) is expecting that vindication, not condemnation, will follow the results.
And understand that he has reason to expect this.
Here's why: at the level of gross anatomical observation, Terri's brain will show significant, massive atrophy, and will in no way resemble a normal healthy brain. The MSM supporters of Michael and the right-to-die movement will stage a carefully-choreographed display of the findings, with medical explanations of how such findings 'vindicate' that Terri was in a PVS state, or brain-dead.
Those reports will be FALSE, in that they will be assertions not using the best evidence available, and will represent, in essence, a stacked-deck against Terri.
I learned a long time ago, in my studies as a neurology student, that physical evidence of brain damage does not correlate to the preservation and adaptation of brain FUNCTION.
I recall a famous case from the early part of the 20th century. A scholarly man had died, and immediately prior to his demise he had begun to display some level of confusion and mental lapses. The procedure revealed, surprisingly, that he had lost 85-90% of his cortex. And yet he had retained MOST of his intellectual functions up to his demise. The case caused a major reconsideration of science's understanding the organization of the brain, especially of the redundancy and duplication of functions across different areas of the brain, and the overall neuro-plasticity of functional organization.
This is seen most dramatically in cases of children losing, e.g., half their brain, and still resuming normal life activities.
Here's the essence of this part of Terri's story: Michael has denied the opportunity for Terri to receive those tests that WOULD SHOW cortical brain function and activity, correlated with her physical responses, and that would be a PET Scan.
He has blocked those tests for a very definite reason -- they would show purposeful cognitive function.
Instead, he wants an result which will focus instead on the DAMAGE. But showing damage shows nothing meaningful with respect to the critical questions regarding Terri's mental state. The results will obfuscate, not illuminate, the important questions.
So Freepers -- a warning in advance, don't be fooled or dismayed by the inevitable stories sure to come regarding Terri's autop*y. They will represent further lies, and further collusion between the MSM and the right-to-die clan.

Recent attempts to curb serious epileptic seizures have involved surgical removal of large regions of the cortex without loss of mental function.
Large cortical damage generally will, of course, be associated with loss of mental function, as in Schiavo's case. Still, no one understand exactly how the brain works.
Some people will be fooled by the so called evidence in a dead person's brain but intelligent people in the medical community without a political agenda know the real truth and sometimes don't dare to buck the politics in medicine.

I noticed on Sat when Felos came out for his "appearance". They have already moved into a new phase. He is doing damage control already.
Is this where the saying that we only use 10% of our brain comes from?
Thanks so much for the info. When I heard that he would allow an autopsy I figured he would only allow the brain - there has been some info. about healed rib fractures. How the courts ever found in his favor time after time I will never know!

I have a question about the bone scan,that shows fractures ribs etc.
It was taken at the re-hab hospital. It has bothered me why was it done.
My son is now into twenty years similar to Terri, but there has been no bone scam post the truama.Why? for what reason would there be?. X-rays at the time showed fractures from the incident,but why months later would anyone do a bone scam?
Michael now contends that the fractures must have occured after the incident.in the rehab hospital. Baden I saw on Fox news , (Greta Van Ze Truth?) said the same thing.
This scenerio troubles me. If Michael Schiavo fresh from wnning a malpractice suite, thought that the re-hab hospital had caused the fractures, why did he not sue?
And if it was not Michael,then who ,what, and why ordered the bone scam?
