Ok kitties.
I have a female cat who has just had her first litter of kittens. I would like her to have another litter next year. She is an outside cat but we have kept her in since just before the kittens were born...we don't want her to breed again this year. Is there a kitty version of Depo prova that we can give her that would last a year, be fairly inexpensive and give me a break from kittens everywhere?
Am I asking for too much?
While I am at it, is there a reason that pet shots cost so much and that there isnt a pet vaccine kit availble for 39.00?
The high cost vet school and interning, plus a closed market. If you have one near you, most local shelters or ASPCA facilities offer shots at cost.

I have a what is called a pet containment system. I bought it over the internet. It amounts to a plastic fencing that is woven in a grid and suspends bracket to bracket which are mounted on my block wall fence. The cats don't jump it or even attempt to, it is read by them like a spider web. I put it up about a year and a few months ago. My cats go in and out of the pet door to the back yard. No more kitty boxes, and the cats love it.
They go out all day and night, whenever they feel like it and experience the naturalness of the back yard which is lawn, and climb the trees, which also are equipped with the cat fencing. They love it.
No electricity, put up in one day. I don't know why more people don't invest in this product.

I considered putting that in my backyard, but as it turns out, my cats don't try to go over the fence anyway. So now I have a cat door to my back yard and my two very good little girls experience the fresh air but are also contained.
I agree, that cat fence-in system is a great idea.

Halle, (we adopted her on Halloween) is a white long haired feline not unlike "Blofeld's" in the 007 series. Her boyfriend is Black and white and Halle's latest litter of 4 is two total black and two black and white!
I found a book on cats at B Dalton's and it tells you mre than you need to know, first and most important is "You don't own the cat. The cat owns you!"
Whenever a cat comes towards you and their tail is a crook ? that means they're happy to see you. Buy the book!

They dont offer shots unless you spay the cat around here.

It's a nice idea but I want her to roam, I jsut want her not to get pregnant ...or to take away her heat episodes for a year or two.

Actually kittens are a relative rarity... The local shelters force people through a vetting process that is cumbersome and refuse to give people cats for barns and other normal cat domiciles.
I understand that in the Greenwich Ct area, the shelters are importing their cats and dogs from Mexico....since the domestic birth control program was so effective. I swear...I read it online ...was it the WSJ??
