Word For The Day, Tuesday, 5/24/05

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

irresolute

adj ;ir·reso·lutely adv. ir·reso·luteness or ir·reso·lution n.

1.Unsure of how to act or proceed; undecided. 2.Lacking in resolution; indecisive. Ex: "the committee was timid and mediocre and irresolute" [ant: resolute] 2: lacking decisiveness of character; unable to act or decide quickly or firmly; "stood irresolute waiting for some inspiration" [syn: hesitant, hesitating]

SYNONYMS:changing, doubtful, doubting, faltering, fearful, fence hanging, fickle, fluctuating, half-hearted, halting, hesitant, hesitating, infirm, pussyfooting, shaky, tentative, timid, uncertain, undecided, undetermined, unsettled, unstable, unsteady, vacillating, waffly, wavering, weak, weak-kneed, wimpy, wishy-washy, wobbly

Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

sorry, but today's word is GROWL, meaning 'honked off' and 'grrr' .... used in a sentence...

Invisible Church was GROWL when he read about the cave-in last night.

you can insert the WORD FOR THE DAY in your second sentence, right between the "the" and the "cave-in" and get an A+++ : ) feel free to join in the free-for-all PO'd brawl we are having in the classroom today.
