Chappelle's home
After a brief South African ''spiritual retreat,'' comedian Dave Chappelle is back at his part-time home in Yellow Springs, Ohio, reports TV Guide Online.
Fans feared Chappelle had checked into a mental facility earlier this month when news circulated he'd halted his hit Chappelle's Show to seek medical help in Africa. But the funnyman insisted he was just ''stressed out'' and needed a break.
Now, Chappelle has returned to his hometown, but his agent Matt Labov insists there's still no signs that he'll return to making his show and he has been told not to book any live performances.
COMEDY CENTRAL IS ADVERTISING THAT CHAPPELE'S SHOW WILL RETURN WITH AN ALL NEW EPISODE TUESDAY AT 9.
Whoo-Hoo!!
He's back!!
Dave Chappelle PING!!!
He's baaaack!!
I know that Comedy Central has a Stand Up performance that has never aired. I think that may be the All New episode they're talking about. I also think that they had filmed about 4 episodes of material, but it wasn't going to air.
Yellow Springs!?!
Damn, that's close to where I live....
Sorry, but I don't find that most of Chapelle's skits are funny or original. And the one's that are funny, he runs the scene so long until it it no longer funny. Chapelle himself has the ability to act in a funny skit. I just don't care for the material.
Very funny guy who has taken race comedy to new heights without preaching.
South Africa is a mental facility. Leaving there is probably the best indication that he is sane.
I agree. I rented volume 1 (disc 1) of season 2. It was funny. However, I don't think I will be renting volume 2 (discs 2 and 3).
Chapelle is the best thing to happen to cable and TV in years. It is the funiest show. So damn funny that I have bought both of his seasons as soon as they came out on DVD. I wish I could track the DVD sales, season 2 is flying off the shelves in Best Buy and FYE. I find the people who dont like Chapple tend to be humourles, prudish and cranky.
Wasn't he hanging out with an Islamic cleric in SA? I hope he doesn't pull a "Cat Stevens".
You left out constipated, but then you found something and that is prolly a good feeling for you. ;)
I LIKE this guy. He is comfortable with who he is, and he expects nothing for it. He IS, however, VERY uncomfortable with the way others react to him.
From watching him only a couple of times--after he became news for leaving--I came up with a theory: (Read it or not LOL!)
He was overwhelmed with the corruption of "hollywood." He hates bigotry from any source. He got fed up with seeing that there were as many bigots on the black side as on the white--if not more.
He's not conservative, ok...but he's not a "reparations-for-something-that-never-happened-to-me" man, either. I like that. He's just like most of us: Tired of race being an issue...it makes a funny joke; but it shouldn't be an issue.
(That theory wasn't too well-constructed; but "I know what I meant.")
:)

Good for him, I wish him well
bttt
I wonder what liberal/Democrat Chapelle would say if he knew he had so many conservative/Republican/libertarian fans... lol.
I think he's more of a free spirit..than a liberal Democrat.
Chapelle used to describe himself as such on previews for his show... then again, maybe he was just joking?
I guess he took a hiatus. In other words, he pulled a Ricky Williams.
