The Dragon Flies' Lair~Thread XXI~
June 26, 2005 | bentfeather/Poets of the Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Good morning,Johnn.

Both "Storm" and "Purpose" are wow poems.

We had a storm yesterday afternoon like the one you described. I had to shut the computer down.

Purpose is very well written and so clearly tells of hurt and pain. The need for both of these emotions.

Ran across this line, and thought it worthy of sharing.

quote:

Plan ahead -- It wasn't raining when Noah built the ark.

There is a lot of life that would benefit from that I think!

Ms. 'feather
glad you liked the two poems, something about storms, (both external and internal) that are a good basis for poems!

"How are you today??"

I'm fine, just got back from riding the antique trolley around town, and stopping for a an old-fashion Burger, fries and a malt, (Vanilla, Banana, and Raspberry).
Took time to sit on a bench on the lakeshore, and watched the clouds race by, and smoked my pipe, and let the world race on by while I took a time out!

I feel fine, clearly taking a few moments to relax is key in getting a step up on the problems of life. There still there, but I see them with a bit different viewpoint, and they seem a lot smaller then before.

And you my Muse??

Ah sounds like a perfect afternoon. The weather is quite lovely here today. I saw on the Weather Channel, you folks had some rip snorting storms.

My muse needs some help, lately she is playing her vague games with me.

"My muse needs some help, lately she is playing her vague games with me."

I often have that same response from her. I usually get around that by writing about something so silly, impossible, or just crazy, and my imagination takes off and the block vaporizes in the concentrated silliness.

Example: write something about any of the following: (need not be a poem)
1.Antics of a guy on rollerblades who suddenly can’t see where he’s going.

2.A dog (afraid of cats) locked in a cat show and unable to get out of the place.

3.A guy walking down 57 flights of stairs, suddenly finding the floors are greased.

4.A woman, dreaming she is flying nude over a crowd, wakes up in Grand Central Station, naked.

5.The convoluted path a ball takes bouncing from floor to floor in a huge store, using escalators, stairs, counter tops and all the customers and staff affected by the ball’s fall.

Write this only for yourself, (unless you want to share it), and you will be surprised where your mind takes you, and soon the block to creativeness is gone! (and you will often be quite amused at the things you can think up along the way.) ;^)

Again

Gentle does my dream come,
and I sit with you,
laughing with you,
sharing a quiet moment.

I have to admit I miss you some,
oh Lordy, but I truly do,
not knowing what to do,
you were a friend heaven sent.

Your smile was the sum,
for I knew I could write too,
and to make it work too,
my muse would be so content.
