I had a pretty good day, Amy. But I have to go to bed early tonight. Gotta get up extra early tomorrow so I can take care of some things in the morning. Then in the afternoon, Winston and I have another 6 hour drive. I'm going back to my apt for a few weeks. I'll check in when I get there. Good night!

Lost Books?
Every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh . . . . is the spirit of the Antichrist. 1 John 4:3
|
Everybody likes a good story, but many people are taking the best-selling novel The Da Vinci Code as historical fact.
Central to the book's plot line is the allegation that "lost books of the Bible" have been suppressed by the church for centuries. These lost books claim that Jesus married Mary Magdalene and had children with her. This radically misrepresents history and is misleading many people. These alleged "lost books of the Bible" were found at Nag Hammadi, Egypt, in 1945. They deny the biblical Jesus and promote goddess worship, self-deity, and secret knowledge. So why did the church exclude these books from the Bible? Because the documents did not meet the criteria for authentic Scripture, which involved several central questions: Was the writer someone Jesus had chosen as an apostle? Did the book have widespread acceptance among church leaders? Did God's Spirit speak through it? The "lost books" did not pass these tests. All the books we have in our New Testament did. When people question the trustworthiness of the Scriptures, we need to give them a respectful and an informed answer. It might just make them want to know more about our Bibleand our God. Dennis Fisher

Immortal words from the Bard:
This royal throne of kings, this scepter'd isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall,
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England

QUOTE OF THE DAY, which you may have seen before (since it obviously pre-dated us in some respects--LOL!):
Hugh Hewitt: "I go to Free Republic every day, probably 20 times. I bet you that Ive heard every major story first on Free Republic, except for 9/11 (I was broadcasting on 9/11 while it happened). Now there are some nuts at Free Republic, some absolute off the wall goofballs. I always warn my listeners and friends in the blogosphere that you have to learn to work that site to avoid the goofballs, but in terms of having thousands people looking for news and posting it, it is far, far, faster than any of the news services." The Big Questions:
1. In the aftermath of the 7/7 terrorist attacks in London, will Tony Blair squander his country's international goodwill?
2. After climbing to record high levels, will Tony Blair's poll numbers decline over time?
3. Down and out, will Tony Blair resort to drinking Woolite on London's Bowery Street because he couldn't lead the frightened sheep in his flock?
4. Or, will the British people rise above the divisive style of politics so prevalent among today's liberals in America and, instead, come together to fight a common enemy?
5. Will Tony Blair's allies continue to support the War on Terror when, in the U.S., Democrat senators "rush to war" only to defeat unnamed Bush nominees to the Supreme Court?

Great Find.
I don't wander much any more so I miss most of the good stuff.
One of our local radio talk show hosts (tho a conservative) thinks FreeRepublic is full of nuts. :)
If I see something on Fox in the early morning, I immediately go to FR to get the details.
If I feel an earthquake, I head for FR to see where it was centered and how bad it is. Nothing like FReeRepublic.

Stand for freedom
As we stand with the people of Great Britain, we recall the words of Winston Churchill in his great speech of October 5, 1938:
"[D]o not suppose that this is the end. This is only the beginning of the reckoning. This is only the first sip, the first foretaste of a bitter cup which will be proffered to us year by year unless by a supreme recovery of moral health and martial vigour, we arise again and take our stand for freedom as in the olden time."

4. Or, will the British people rise above the divisive style of politics so prevalent among today's liberals in America and, instead, come together to fight a common enemy? My heartfelt sympathies to the British people, especially to the family and friends of those killed or injured by the horribly and cowardly attacks perpetrated by savage terrorists.
England needs to fight terrorism in a more aggressive away. I just saw on CNN a group of Islamic-potential-terrorists gathered in London a couple of weeks ago chanting death to GW and Tony Blair. We don't fight terrorism with political correctness, and we shouldn't fight Islamic terrorism with excessive tolerance. The enemy has been allowed to spread and grow in England. Right now 40% of its population is Muslim. LINK

Good evening, Victoria.
Hope all is well with you.
I agree ..... we need to forget political correctness and fight the Islamic terrorist like the animals they are. How many more innocent people will we watch be brutally murdered?
Now they are threatening to kill the Navy Seal that they captured. They said the killing will be filmed. Animals!!! No animals are better than this group of savage beasts.

You said it's Chocolate Day?

Chocolate For Dinner
I know you wont like it, but what can I say?
I just felt like having some Chocolate today!
I thought about dinner, and what I have got,
Looked into my pantry. I found "Shocolotte!"*
It didnt need boiling; did not have to thaw,
Just open the package, glom onto a chaw!
Now thats a good dinner! No side dish or main,
Only one big decision -- either with nuts, or plain?

Did you also write one about either macaroni or a Strawberry Sundae? I could probably find a graphic to go with either one. If you can write it, I can find a graphic.

Macaroni
There was this Yankee Doodle, who had a special hat,
By donning plumage he could eat! Now can you fancy that?
Or was it that he decorated it for it was rather plain?
I cant see how hed otherwise have anything to gain.
He put a feather in it, and called it macaroni.
That makes no sense to call a hat, perhaps he meant his pony?
That cant be it, of course, its from a story line,
About a girl who had a horse, a girl named Caroline.
The horse was white ... no wait a bit, her house was all in White,
And everywhere she went her pony kept her in his sight!
Or was that Mary, who can tell? This tale is not so neat,
I think because of hunger pangs. So tell me, can we eat?

Look At The Birds
Look at the birds of the air . . . . Are you not of more value than they? Matthew 6:26
|
When you shift your mind into neutral and just let it idle, where do your thoughts go? Do you worry about money? We are to be careful with money, but Jesus taught that we are not to be full of care about it. If you have put your faith in the Lord, you don't have to worry about life's necessities. God Himself has assumed responsibility for your food and clothingand all your needs.
When Jesus spoke of our need for food, He pointed to the birds, and said, "They neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?" (Matthew 6:26). That doesn't mean we get what we need by doing nothing. Birds must scratch and search for food. The point is, they don't worry about it. Jesus instructed us to center our lives on God's kingdom. Then clothing, food, and drink will be ours as well. Look at it this way: Whether or not you live only for money, you'll ultimately leave it or it will leave you. But if you focus your life on God and doing His will, all these other things will be provided. Does your concern for making money and keeping it overshadow your concern for doing God's will? If so, stop and look at the birds. Haddon Robinson
Children of the heavenly Father Safely in His bosom gather; Nestling bird nor star in heaven Such a refuge e'er was given. Berg
Poverty of purpose is far worse than poverty of purse.
