In making the announcement, Ailes said, "Bill is a journalist of great integrity, and his strong reporting and anchoring skills will prove beneficial to the entire FOX News team."

Hemmer added, "I am thrilled to be joining FOX News Channel, and I welcome the opportunity to be a part of the nation's leading cable news network."

Paula (zipper sound) Zahn had perfect timing- left Fox to go to CNN just as Fox started kicking CNN's a$$...

And FNC continues its slide to the left.

Opening up the same underserved market segment that allowed FNC to get into the cable news game, for some new competitor, perhaps?

Any media company out there willing to take a chance on serious, unbiased news?

And FNC continues its slide to the left.

Adding Bill Hemmer is not a slide left. Good move by Fox News adding a right of center journalist who loves this country and supports our US military. Bill was stuck at CNN much like Brit Hume was at ABC.

I agree. Bill Hemmer has always supported our troops much to the chagrin of lefty Soledad O'Brien and CNN. Good move for Hemmer.

Not crazy about Hemmer and wonder who will get the boot to make room for him. They seem to have a pretty full line-up as it is.

Another plus is that Bill Hemmer is from generally conservative Cincinnati. Tony Snow is also from the Cincinnati suburbs and I can proudly say graduated a couple years ahead of me from Princeton High School in Sharonville.

Tony Snow is cool. That must be some High School.

For a public high school Princeton High School was (is) one of the better ones in the country. In languages alone they offer Latin, German, Spanish, French, Japanese and Russian.

I admit I don't know much about Hemmer, but I'm suspicious of anyone coming from the Clintoon News Network. You're right about FNC's full line-up... who will get the boot? We can always HOPE it's Whorealdo, but I doubt it will be... ;-)

I'm so envious. In Florida we're still working on getting kids to understand English. Latin's down the road, waaaaaaaaaay down the road.

Unfortunately it won't be Whorealdo as he made it a big fanfare when he renewed his contract. I think we're stuck with him for another 2 years or more. Frankly as long as he's stuck in the 10:00 p.m. weekend timeslot, it's tolerable as hardly anyone watches.

According to another article in this morning's Miami Herald, he'll be doing the FOX News Live program at Noon ET.

Part of the article:

Hemmer says the philosophy at Fox is keep things moving, and he's in total agreement.

''I am of the firm belief that cable-news viewers are a click-fickle bunch,'' says Hemmer. ``Make them wait for what they want, they'll go find it on their own, somewhere else. They've got other choices, and other options, and you'd better keep them engaged.''

But what about those critics who say Fox News is just a lot of right-wing claptrap? Did Hemmer get a briefing before this morning's show about which Democrats to gore and which Republicans to praise?

''Oh, puh-leaze,'' he groans. ``It's never come up. It's never been an issue. And I think my record over the past 10 years makes it clear I'm not that kind of reporter.''
