Worst vehilces you've ever owned?

My top two are both Volkswagens, back in the 60's. One was a Karman Gia, the other was a Squareback. My, they were awful. I tried to like them, but I couldn't.

Third would be a Chevy Suburban, also in the 60's or possibly the early 70's. I used to joke that I could see things falling off it in the rear-view mirror as we drove down the road. Still, it had its place in the overall scope of things.

Best would be a 1996 Ford Ranger. That was a great truck. If I hadn't wrecked it, I would have kept it forever.

My new Toyota Tundra is not as good. It's okay. I don't like the controls. I should have shopped more.

My GEO Tracker is pretty good. I can't figure out how to set the clock, but it works pretty well otherwise.

The 1986 Mazda RX-7.
Rolling pile of crap. Glad the ex kept it; it survived for about two months after.

1975 Datsun B210. My parents', but I learned all the curse words I needed listening to my dad talk about that car.

1985 "K" car.  Brand new.  Drove about 400 miles ... and the engine fell.  All the motor mounts broke.

1999 Suzuki Grand Vitara. The 4-wheel drive worked perfect in the summer or on flat dry roads (which is when you never need it!) BUT if you need it in the winter............ ggrrrrr......

Worst car? Toss up between a '90 Geo Metro and a '98 Dodge Stratus. Both were pretty crappy, but at least the Geo got good gas mileage.

Best is our Chevy Venture. It's my lifesaver!

My parents had a 1960 Pontiac Tempest. Must have gone through a half-dozen clutches. Dad bought the first year of a new model. Big mistake.

I was thinking about the Ventures. Do some models have AWD?

Worst was a used Saab that I got talked into buying when I was a dumb 20-something. The best was a 1955 Buick Special that my brother-in-law sold me for fifty bucks in 1968. That was a tank.

I've only owned on vehicle in my life. It was a Chevy 1985 Blazer. I LOVED that thing. I had it for almost exactly 6 years, from age 15 to just before my 21st birthday, and I almost never had big problems with it. Then, I wrecked it. Now I borrow my Mom's car.

I had a Vega that burned a case of oil every two weeks. The thing was reliable though. I couldn't blow it up, I know I tried.

The first year the Chrysler Laser was built, I was unlucky enought to buy one. Had it three years and put three new turbos in it.

LOL, you make me post and display my ignorance for all to see! :)

I have no idea, and honestly, I don't even know if ours has AWD! :) But it's a great van, and I don't know how I got along without it. It's a 2005 LS...here is a link for the specs. Good to see you!

BINGO! We had them as patrol cars. In a pursuit at high speeds if you made a turn the car would stall and the steering lock. It was a pucker factor the first time. After that you would put the car in neutral and restart it before putting it back in gear... all while going 50+
What a pile of junk.

1964 International Harvester PU Truck, with an in-line hemi 6.

Actually, that was the best truck I ever owned... the coil wire burned out on the Penna TPK once, and I bent a coathanger, jambed one end in the coil, the other in the distributer cap, and drove it home...LOL

It was a complete piece of cr@p.

But it got me places, and had 560,000 miles on it, when it died in 1994...

1988 Volkswagon Synchro - Great rig when working at the ski hill, handled awesome. Maintanence nightmare!!! Whenever I'd go on a trip it was with a knot in the pit of my stomach wondering what was going to go wrong next and how much it was gonna cost (usually lots even for simple stuff)

VW - NEVER AGAIN

1977 Plymouth Arrow.

I got it second hand(from Sister) with a whopping 60k miles on it(in 1983).

I put about 3k miles on it and it got a bad miss. Plugs, wires, cap/rotor to no avail.

I lived with the appalling lack of power as I couldn't afford a new ride. About 7k miles after that, I was driving down the expressway and suddenly the shifter started beating my leg. It was moving from side to side almost almost flat to the seat in both directions. My whole leg swelled up and was black and blue hip to knee for weeks. Doc told me it should have broken my femur.

Turns out the bearing in the tail of the tranny has siezed and created an oblong orbit for the now bent driveshaft forcing the whole tranny and engine to flip around.

It had also broken all the tranny and engine mounts.

I had started a repair, took the engine apart and had found out the front lobes on the cam were wiped due to poor oiling. I got $25 bucks from the guy who picked the pos up.
