Rolling Stones new cd reviewed (my first vanity)
Myself
Posted on 08/10/2005 10:08:57 AM PDT by Berlin_Freeper
Finally I have a vanity post worthy of Freepers...
A friend of mine here in Germany is a music editor for a magazine. He is a true blue lifelong Rolling Stones fan (as well as a leftie) and has been to a Pre-Listening Session of the new Rolling Stones album today.
Now this is exactly what he told me about it:
"It sucks."
TOPICS: Germany; Music/Entertainment; Your Opinion/Questions
KEYWORDS: jagger; mickjagger; music; rollingstones; stones

Thanks for the info. Can't say I'm terribly surprised. Although when I saw them in 1998, they put on a very good show.

Which is why they needed an anti-Bush song on it.
To sell records to the leftists.

The Stones? As in those petrified old guys, who pretend to "rock"?

The Stones have "sucked" since the 'Let It Bleed' albumn.
To: Berlin_Freeper
Have the Stones done a decent album since "Some Girls" or "Sticky Fingers," whichever came last?
BTW, the amazingly dessicated Keith Richards really needs to have his corpse preserved after death and studied by science. Personally I think he's a space alien from Krypton. How else can you explain the fact that he's still alive after what he's done to himself?

Have the Stones done a decent album since "Some Girls" or "Sticky Fingers," whichever came last? Well, possibly "Tattoo You" in 1981. It wasn't great but it was okay.

How else can you explain the fact that he's still alive after what he's done to himself? Keith passed away from an overdose in 1967. As soon as the drugs wear off, he'll realize it.

Studio bands are not real. The show is where it's at, warts and pimples and all. The music must live or it's dead.

I heard a cut (Rough Justice?) from their new cd on the radio the other day.
It's an understatement to say it sucked.
I've heard garage bands that were better.

Found this exchange on a music forum, they knew the formula, but didn't get in touch with the band...
- A new Stones album recorded in six days by steve albini would be fun
- A new Stones album recorded in six days by Jim Diamond would be fun!
- A new Stones album recorded in one afternoon in Regent Sound studios with a lot of Viagra and sixty years old naked women doing background vocals for White Stripes and Sonic Youth covers should be the path of those bad boys. With Jon Spencer on guitar, joining the band at the last minute after Keith Richard's death on a tragic vodka accident. They're up with Redbull and bad Marijuana, improvising a version of Smells Like Teen Spirit with a Bo Diddley rythm, not thinking about their big money and private castles, and for the first time, Charles Watts hits the Hi-hat and the Snare Drum...IN THE SAME TIME!!!!!!!!!!
If the names are too obscure, then you're too old! (to update an old saying)

Like many self-absorbed celebrities, the Stones require that their dressing room be 'just so.'

They steal that idea from Screamin' Jay Hawkins and Screamin' Lord Sutch?
It's no secret that the Stones nicked Nicky Hopkins from Sutch.

Rolling Stones. Didn't they used to be a rock band? I seem to remember them from when I was a little kid. They didn't "get no" something or other.
