Apple today released updated versions of its Safari Web browser for both Mac OS X Tiger (10.4) and Panther (10.3). Safari 2.0.1 for Mac OS X Tiger improves website compatibility, application stability and support for 3rd party web applications. It requires Mac OS X 10.4.2 and is available as a free 4.5MB download from Apple. Safari 1.3.1 for Mac OS X Panther makes the same improvements as its Tiger counterpart. It requires Mac OS X 10.3.9, the final release of Panther, and is 3.8MB.

Safari is nice, but I like my Firefox.... more cookie control for one, plus plug ins.

Firefox is cool, but I can't seem to get it to install on my work computer. I'm assuming there's something screwy in firewall land (I get the impression that even the IS guys don't QUITE know what they're doing, sometimes...)

Works fine at home, though... c'est la vie...

Hmmm. Those IS guys...
I did just download Safari, and it does seem faster. Probably the Hawthorne effect ;)

Does Safari have Adblock like Firefox?

Safari blocks pop-ups... some pop-unders still get through on the previous version. I will have to see with the new version.

Yes, knew that. But did notice in this new version it says on cookies it limits to "sites you navigate to" and not to advertisers. That wasn't in the previous release, was it?

Hmmmmm... here is the quotation from Safari Help...

Click "Only from sites you navigate to" to prevent storing cookies that come from websites other than those you open. Select this option to prevent advertisers on websites you visit from storing cookies on your computer.

I really don't recall what it said in the earlier version...
