History Channel Program on Alaska's Bermuda Triangle
http://www.historychannel.com/global/listings/listings_weekly.jsp?NetwCode=THC&timezone=1 ^

The History Channel rebroadcasts tonight at 8PM EST a program I saw three years ago. The description is

"There's something about Alaska that the tourist bureau doesn't want you to know. In Alaska, people, planes, and ships disappear. Suddenly, inexplicably, and permanently! Natives say that shape-shifting spirits kidnap lost travelers. Scientists tell of giant crevasses that swallow the unwary. Others tell of conspiracies to wreck aircraft. We take a detailed look at the 1972 incident that confounded the US military, when an airplane carrying two Congressmen vanished between Anchorage and Juneau."

Assuming that it has not changed from the version I saw, the last fifteen minutes of the program are a crock. They blame J Edgar Hoover for covering up the survival of people who were on a plane which crashed in October, 1972. The problem is that Hoover died in May, 1972. What a bunch of morons!

Should be interesting to see if that error has been corrected.

the last fifteen minutes of the program are a crock.

My guess is that the crockyness factor is greater than that.

The History Channel and National Geographic are both good, but no one should get the idea that everything they present is beyond reproach. I've had some problems with some of their presentations as well.

***What a bunch of morons!****

As I've posted on a few other History Channel threads, it's turning into a Pile Of S... And their on line "This Day In History" is full of errors and omissions, and on almost any subject.

The problem is that Hoover died inb May, 1972...

I remeber an episode of Barney Miller where Det. Dietrich told a FBI Agent that he could never join the FBI because he could never work for J. Edgar Hoover. The FBI agent looked surprised and said

"Surely you know that Mr. Hoover is dead?"

Dietrich just the agent a look of pity and replied

"Is that what they told you?"

The look on the FBI Agent's face as he suddenly considered the possibility that Hoover had faked his own death so he could continue to secretly run the Bureau was priceless.

The only good, critical look at paranormal... UFO activity was on the NG Specials de-bunking them!

I've seen a real UFO... but that doesn't mean I've seen an alien spacecraft!

Exactly. The frozen tundra doesn't exactly lend itself to searches.

There are no aliens. We'd be sending them foreign aide by now if there were.

Here's where I prove myself a crank but....

It bugs me that the History Channel is sort of the alpha & omega regarding history on television. I know that they have gotten things wrong. I've even emailed them on certain errors but once a program is in the can you know it isn't going to change.

I watched most of the program and taped the rest of it. Hoover's portrayed as the villain of a cover-up five months after his death. Don't they do ANY checking of facts at the History Channel. I guess not.

The ACLU recently posted a blatant lie about the First Amendment on its web site. A lot of folks on the Left think we're too stupid to discern their lies.
