December and January bite the big one, no racing.

The rest of the year is OK by me.

Favorite 60 days

Mid-April to Mid-June... more daylight; blossoms, blooms, leaves appearing; not too much cold, heat, or humidity.

Favorites: February and September, because they are the birth months of my wife and daughter, respectively. :-)

Least Favorites: March and August. March because by that time I'm sick of winter, and August because by that time I'm sick of summer!

Most disliked--August. My garden gets scraggly and I lose control of the jungle--the humidity makes me cranky and I'm so tired of the buzzy haze. Nothing is blooming. Fighting the Jap beetles.

Most loved--October. Crisp. Apples. The haze on the mountains turns to crystal. Planting johnny-jumpups, which bloom until the first summer's heat.

Second favorite--May, when the laurel blooms.

Looks like everyone hates poor August...die she must! (Simon and Garfunkle)...but I like the birthstone--a perfect apple-green peridot.

Grey Whiskers posted this Ode to September yesterday. I thought it was a great post that got little attention.

I have a love/hate with August. I hate it because by month end it's evident that summer's just about over here! Shorter days and nights getting cooler. But at the same time I'm sick of humidity by then so it's refreshing at the same time.

And my birthday is in August.

August is getting beat up pretty bad by everyone. Based on that I will introduce legislation to remover the month from our calendar.
