Welcome to Free Republic. Don't mind him; the liberals and socialists tend to make a lot of people cranky. Not to blame em' though. ;)

Careful about where you step though; it can be easy to be perceived as a troll around here, and the Freepers have little tolerance for trolls. So until you're around for awhile, I'd advise mostly sticking to trying to get a feel for things.

From Eschoir to ASH ALERTS to classygreeneyedgirl to DITHF to Snowbunny, and on and on and on and ON, to a steady diet of troll hunting with RKBA and the Viking Kitties, I have no paranoia; just a great nose for trolls and disruptors and those who pimp their own blogs, forums, pinup pictures, etc.

It is against FR rules to pimp your own blog/forum/ etc. and was warning the poster. I heartily suggest that you learn the rules here, too, and get to know your fellow FREEPERS and who's who here. FYI...I am NOT a "him", dear. ;^)

I agree. If we freak out each time a new person makes a mistake, we may be brushing off young conservatives. I don't want to dissuade budding thinkers by being a pedant.

On the other hand... 1stAmendmentRocks, you should probably hang out and read the posts for a while and see how things are done rules-wise. Many liberals like the ones you are describing regularly come here to try to cause trouble. Some sign on and try to seem conservative just to bait people, others say offensive things to frame the site as racist, etc. We call them Trolls. Nopardons has seen many, and wants to keep the forums clean. We argue a great deal, but we like it to be with fellow conservatives.

Lastly, it sounds from your above posts that you are a "classical liberal" in the sense of many of the founding fathers. Unfortunately, the term liberal was high-jacked by morons long ago.

I was a teenager, it was LIBERAL HIPPY youth minister who taught me to question everything and remain open minded to opposing POVs. The skills he taught me led me from liberalism to conservatism (a path many take as wisdom and experience overtakes environment). Sadly, there don't appear to be many TRUE liberal Democrats like him left...

I saw it too - it went from a respect for ideas that were different from yours, to a dogma of total acceptance for PC ideas. The gay rights activists, Bob Krunst (might be spelled wrong) who is supposedly soooo open minded, said at a protest in Washington the other day that "Freepers should be shot". Liberals are as intolerant as their worse nightmare about us ... and they often have the undertones of violence backing it up. You're right. They're not what they use to be - it's why many of us who were "liberals" will never be again...

Everybody is entitled to say what they want to say, in the way they want to say it.

The worst crime is to demand that somebody else can only say what one wants to hear, and in the manner one demands it be said. That is the crime of today's liberals (authoritarians). That is the point of this thread.

No crime - it looks like a misunderstanding to me. Sometimes it's better to hang out here for a while to pick up on the "culture" of the place. He'll be fine ... someone mistook him for a troll.

I started a conversation on a Yahoo chat regarding Cindy Sheehan.
The data listed here mirror's my experience. The profanity was extreme and, though I chided them to act like adults, they would watch their language for a couple of posts and then resort back to obscenities when cornered on a topic.
Partial birth abortion, Christianity and Ted Kennedy were explosive subjects. They hated president Bush with such fury it was as though I was swapping posts with Satan himself.
After three weeks I chose to end the discussions when my questions were ignored and the obscenities increased,
One of the posters was a 70 years old man. I suggested that demons were the only logical explanation for why a man of his age would resort to obscenities. He blamed his second childhood.
I told him that he was either a former teacher or the victim of a poor education.
I feel I can learn from discussions and found myself researching many topics, but when swearing became the sole content of a reply I realized I had proven my point and moved on.
