He could have tied Super Bowl VII, but hit the goal post instead of Charlie Taylor.
Hope so dawg.
All I know is we've won more than we've lost and if we can wind up that way at the end of the season, we'll be in the playoffs.
Once you get there, anything can happen.
I second that emotion. Landrey was a class act - and that era was when the Redskin/Cowboy rivarly was at its peak. It is too bad George Allen's mighty Superbowl team had to meet up with the perfect season Dolphins - any other season that team would have been the champions. I think Gibbs comes from the Allen/Landrey era - although even he often looks out of place in the "modern" NFL. I can sum it up this way - football was more of an art form back in the "day" and today football is more of a business (just like rock music).
I think Miami was destined to win that one.
YOu know, it's FUN knowing the Cowboys have the same record as the 49ers, the Browns, the Jets and the Redskins.
It drives the Cowboys fans insane.
Yes I am talking to you sinkspur.
There were at least two games in Dallas, 2004 and MNF 2001 where Dallas should have lost. Remember the Davis Fumble, 9-7 win? Banks was the QB that year for Washington. There was also a game,2002, where Dallas turned the ball over early and often, but Washington couldn't convert.
Dallas is 54-34-2 (0.611) over Washington with an average score of 23-19 over Washington.
Don't get me wrong - I am not planning my trip to watch the Redskins play in the Superbowl this year (actually that would be next year, but I digress). I will take what I can get. Last night I was very close to ending the torture and figuratively slitting my wrists as a Redskin fan (meaning turning off the game before it ended) - I decided to stick it out and the Gods of Football gloriously rewarded me - I was shaking with excitement after the game - it has been well over ten years since a Redskin game has garnered that effect. Who knows - Gibbs teams are known for turning the corner quickly (although I am not betting the farm just yet). It will be interesting to see what the Cowboys and the Redskins do in their next games - not sure this a really good time for a bye week although it is guaranteed that the Redskins will remain undefeated through the third week.
This season Dallas is 0-1 against Washington (Washington currently leads the division and Dallas is in last place) - and that is all that counts right now. Last time I checked victories in 2004, 2002, or 2001 do not apply to the 2005 season :-)
I also heard that many years ago Dallas won a Superbowl...come on...sing with me: "Those were the days my friend..."
Correct: Washington is undefeated and is in first place in the division with a 2-0 record. Dallas is currently in last place in the division with a 1-1 record (they beat out last years Superbowl losses in the race for last place by losing a division game)
Sorry about that.
I meant to put in the Iggles there.....
Dallas won Super Bowls in 1993, 1994, and 1996.
Washington's last one was in 1992, the same day Billary Hildabeaste went on 60-minutes.
So it will be ten years this season since the Cowboys were in the Superbowl.
Washington won the Superbowl in 1983, 1988, and 1992 - I can recite ancient history too. Dallas is .625 in Superbowls and Washington is .600 (tied with New England). So I guess your point is which is the stronger team - one that won a Superbowl 10 years ago or one that won the Superbowl 14 years ago. Let's see - there are no members of the 1991 team on the Redskins now and I doubt there are any members of the 1995 team on the Cowboys. The Redskins do have the coach that took them to the Superbowl last time and Dallas does not. Advantage: Washington?
:-)
The best QB for Washington in that game was Garo Yepremian.
You forgot Parcels has two Super Bowls (1987 and 1991), plus a playoff win over Gibbs ;)
I said the coach that got THE team to the Superbowl - not a coach that got A team to the Superbowl.
:-)
Why is #7 checking out #9's arse?
Kilmer did play in San Francisco. :) j/k.
LOL...he ain't checking his arse, he's checking his achilles.
That's a classic pic from when Sonny snapped his achilles and was replaced by Billy.
There's another classic later on when Billy was knocked half silly (some say he played like that most of the time) and was dragging himself off the field and Sonny was dragging himself on the field to replace him.
Now THAT was a classic...one relic replacing another relic. God I loved those guys...that was what football was to me.
I think he needs to figure out who his starting qb is and sit down with him for a 'Theisman moment'.
Then he needs to remove the shackles and go on offense.
It's not..nobody banged up, nobody tired, no need for a bye but that's the rub of the green...so to speak.
hmm..on second thought, maybe they could work on some long ball offensive plays.
