Thanks. I'd recommend Sun then, that's what we use when we need *nix. They seem to have a fairly nice mix of being open while still being proprietary, plus if you want something free you can download Solaris for Intel wihtout paying a dime. It remains to be seen if they can survive even just dabbling with OSS though.

Yeah, I really am seriously considering Solaris.

But no matter what I do, I'm still stuck in a crowd of idiots.

Aren't we all! Try to distinguish yourself. I'd say I've clearly done that for myself, and the idiots are in constant uproar about it, LOL.
