Freak accident? This team led the majors 3 years in a row in runs scored. Last year they had 2 legitimate #1 starters. In 2003 Giambi hits 2 home runs in game 7 and we find out later he was juicing. This year wasn't theirs.
Chicago has the best relief corps in the game. How about giving them some credit?
He didn't cut the payroll. They are still at the same level as last year. Paying Pedro all that money might have looked good but in 2 years when his shoulder falls apart and they eat a year or two of his contract (no insurance company will cover him) people will sing a different tune.
